Cabinets Ordered

I ordered my new kitchen cabinets from IKEA yesterday. I changed the order twice while I was talking with the guy, and once more after we were done but before I paid. I’m glad he didn’t kill me.

I’m excited about the things I’ve chosen! I only got one slidey-outie cabinet. The rest are normal doors with shelves, or drawers, or some combination. It’s going to take two weeks for the cabinets to be delivered to IKEA. (Delivering to my house would have been CRAZY expensive!) In the mean time, I have to tear down the old cabinets and patch up the crumbly plaster walls and figure out the plumbing and electric and paint the walls. I’m glad I’m not in school yet.

I hope to get some demolition done today. But I have to eat breakfast first.

First Demolition

I started pulling old cabinets out yesterday. It was fun to smash stuff with a sledge hammer and wrecking bar! I can already see how much more counter space it will add to not have that crazy broom closet in the corner. I’ll order my new cabinets from IKEA today. Then maybe I’ll pull some more old cabinets off the wall. Woo hoo!

Broom closet there.

Broom closet not there.

Thai Food!

Today I bought a new lawn mower. I also bought something called a “wrecking bar”. I think that’s a great name! It’s a big crow bar that you tear things up with. I’m going to tear up my old cabinets in my kitchen and pull them off the wall.

Tonight I went to “Thai Restaurant”. Apparently, it’s called that because it was the first one in Baltimore. They only needed to call it “Thai”. I suppose they could’ve gone the way of some churches and called themselves “First Thai Restaurant”, but that sounds kind of weird.

Anyway, the food there is great! And someone I used to work with when I was a server at Tenosix Restaurant is a server there. He remembered my name. First and last. I think his name is Richard. But I was afraid to say it. Dang my memory!

High recommendations for this restaurant. The fried cheesecake is good with coconut ice cream. Mmmmm…

First Journal Entry

I have a terrible memory. My friend Lauren has suggested I regularly write down what has happened to me so that I can be reminded. Was it Lauren who suggested that? Maybe it was my sister Beth. I can’t remember…

Today will be my first entry:

I want to replace the cabinets in my kitchen. I’ve been to IKEA and back for three days in a row. I think I know what I want to do, but I’m hitting little snags here and there… the latest snag is some radiator pipes in the corner… how will I put cabinets around them?

Since I couldn’t go any farther without making some decisions, I put it off. Instead, I went outside to mow because the grass was long. SOMEONE STOLE MY MOWER! grrrrr! My ladder was stolen about a month ago. grrrrr!

I’m gonna get a new or used mower this weekend. My lawn looks like a jungle!
