I’ve Been Noticed!

I got a note that I had a comment to moderate and didn’t recognize the return address. It was spam. I have offically been noticed by a spam robot. Cool! First it’s the robots, then the rest of the world! Soon I will be the talk of breakfast tables and elevators nationwide!

“803117 Blog Verification” means a robot is fishing for potential spam addresses.
Cool, huh?
My first spam.

Stupid, Stupid Brad

Posted by Brad on September 30th, 2006 — Posted in Journal

Yesterday morning after faculty devotions a request was made that we move our cars from the parking lot up onto the hill so that the parking lot would have fewer cars. Because of parent-teacher conferences, there was a noon dismissal. The traffic tends to be particularly bad on noon dismissals. So I went down to move my truck. I was in a hurry because school was going to start in ten minutes and I didn’t want to be late.

Well, lots of people were passing through the lot after dropping kids off and I had trouble finding an opening. Finally someone stopped to let me out and I pulled out quickly… only to have the bumper of my co-worker’s parked car scrape down the side of my truck. AAAHHH! Fortunately, the damage to her car wasn’t REAL bad. She was a good sport when I told her about it. Unfortunately, the damage to my truck WAS bad. It was the passenger side — the side opposite the damage that happened in June. grrrr! Stupid, stupid Brad. If I just would have left the truck where it was…If I just would have driven more slowly…

My guess: $1,000

Crime Scene Investigation Part Five

Posted by Brad on September 29th, 2006 — Posted in Investigations

I had parent-teacher conferences yesterday, so I got home from school later than usual. It was almost 7:00 when I walked into my house. It was especially dark because it was stormy outside. I went towards the kitchen to throw away the junk mail and noticed that the back porch light was on. This is highly unusual because the back porch light is on a motion detector. That means something — or someONE — activated the motion sensors.

I heard someone bumping around next door on Tuesday night. Could they possibly know I’m investigating them? Could they be looking in my kitchen window to see if I know their secret? Or is it just that the wind from the storm blew some trash across my back porch and set off the motion detector? I will have to use more care as I continue my observations.

THE EVIDENCE

The Motion Detector Activated

Worst Phone Card Name Ever

Posted by Brad on September 28th, 2006 — Posted in Journal

I was walking back from Zorbas, where I had gotten a BLT, and I saw this trash on the sidewalk. It was the cardboard that a pre-paid phone card was attached to. I couldn’t believe the name! After doing a sexuality unit for class last year, I’m up on some of the sex-ed jargon. STD’s are no longer called that. I don’t know if it’s because there is an aversion to the word “disease”, or if it’s because some infections don’t necessarily express themselves as diseases. Whatever the case may be, STD’s are now called Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI). That’s why this phone card caught my eye. Their caption should read: “Share something special with a loved one.” Hahaha!

Check it out:

Rounded Neckline

Posted by Brad on September 27th, 2006 — Posted in Haircuts

I got my hair cut yesterday. I always go to Great Clips and usually get a good haircut, now that I know what to ask for: “Number three on top, number one on the sides and back, and no corners on my head” It was a new woman this time. It seemed like she wanted to chat. She would ask me a question in a really mumbly voice so that I just barely understood what she was asking. Then I would reply. But then she wouldn’t say anything back. It was like hitting a tennis ball over to someone and them just letting it hit their chest and bounce to the ground. After a while, we just let the silence take over.

When I used to get haircuts, people would always ask if I want it square in the back, or round in the back. I haven’t been asked that in a long time. Looking at the picture below, you can see that it’s currently round. Do they not ask because no one does a square back anymore, or are they just assuming that since it’s round that’s what I want? I’ll have to ask some other guys to see what happens with them.

Round in back.
