A New Favorite Snack

I was in the grocery store getting various produce items and noticed something I hadn’t seen before… prewashed sugar snap peas. I was assembling a veggie plate for appetizers at a dinner party and thought the peas would be an interesting addition, so I got them.

They rock! I ended up eating almost all of them. They taste like peas from the garden. I love them. I already went back to the grocery store to get a second bag. Here’s a picture of it. Ned thinks the peas are interesting, too!

Peas and a cat. Is that some kind of nursery rhyme?

Strange Warning

I find all kinds of interesting things on the floor of my classroom. This is one of the strangest things I’ve seen in a long time. It’s a warning label of some kind. But it has a strange warning. What could this product possibly be? What would have a warning like this?

Warning! Warning!

Where SHOULD you place it then?

Sexy, Luscious Hair

I’ve decided to put this one into the “Haircuts” category.

Brent sent me a picture yesterday. He said his daughter Rachel and he were looking through some old pictures and she thought this one was hilarious. I agree! Look at the expressions on everyone’s faces. HAHA!

The file is called “Dinner_92″. This is from 1992?
And what kind of dinner do you eat from bowls? Cereal?
That must have been a great party!
Mom, me, and Beth. Check out my sexy, luscious hair! What is Beth wearing? Nice bib and shoulder pads. HAHA!

Beginning the Base

As requested, here is a picture of the other wall of cabinets. Notice the toaster. I have already cooked something in my new kitchen — toaster waffles!

I dont need no stinkin counter!

I had a freakishly busy day yesterday. In between 9am and 9:30pm I was home for about a total of 45 minutes. I substitute-preached for one of my co-workers who has a small church in West Baltimore, then I had an open house at school, then I went to a church dinner group meal. Whew!

Meanwhile, Denis started assembling the base cabinets.
And so the base begins...

But there’s another problem. The base cabinet next to the stove bumps up against the natural gas supply pipe. The pipe bends to the left, but needs to bend to the right. I’m not quite as scared of working with gas as I once might have been because of the electrical work I’ve done. But making a mistake with electricity just means a tripped breaker; making a mistake with gas means my house explodes. I’ll have to do some research.

To the right, to the right!

Wall Cabinets

Well, I started the day yesterday by moving the microwave/hood outlet to the other side of the stud. As I had said a few posts ago, the outlet was centered on the hood cabinet but should’ve been to the right. Moving the outlet went pretty quickly.

I am practically an expert electrician.

Then after working for ten more hours, this is what the floor looked like:
Snips and shims and cabinet rails.

And this is what the wall looks like:
Now I can cook microwave food! Wait, I already could do that.

Yay! The wall cabinets are hung! It took lots of shimming (Thank you, Denis. Thank you, OCD.) All day long I was singing Mary Poppins’ “Shim, shimminy, shim, shimminy, shim, shim, sher-ee…” Besides all the shimming, the vent pipe was a dog to get in. But it’s all installed, and it’s all staying right where it is. The base cabinets are next.
