What Am I, Some Kinda Hippie?

Posted by Brad on November 30th, 2006 — Posted in Haircuts

This is the longest my hair has been in a couple of years. I have been waiting for payday to get my next haircut. But since I was going to get paid today, I decided to get my haircut yesterday.

I had Jerline again. Last time she cut my hair, I couldn’t remember if that was her name or not. I was sure to memorize it this time. She gave me a good haircut again… nice and smooth. I did a “before” picture this time, since my hair was so freakishly long:

Call me Shaggy.

In the “after”, you can really see the difference. The “corner” on the right side of my head is gone, I have hair particles all over my forehead, and that unhealthy yellowish tint is gone! Thank you, Jerline!

No more jaundice!

UPDATE
HAHA! These comments make me laugh. I had originally ended my post with this: “Is it my imagination, or is my left pupil bigger than my right pupil? Could I be having a stroke?”

Coffee, Continued

Posted by Brad on November 29th, 2006 — Posted in Journal

I have been so sleepy the last two days that I’ve felt like I could nap while standing. I don’t understand it. So Monday after school (which is my sleepiest time), I drank a cup of coffee. It really helped. I got a lot of stuff done during a time that I usually just stare at things. Then yesterday I had a cup at lunch, one during the next period, then two after school. I’m a little worried that I’ll become dependent on the caffeine.

If I’m just doing this for the caffeine, why not skip the foul tasting coffee that leaves a taste in my mouth all day and just start taking caffeine pills? I know people who drink two quarts per day (cough)Michele(cough). Is it any worse to take a pill than to drink a drink?

What my desk always looks like, plus coffee.
Caffeine to the rescue!

New Lights

Posted by Brad on November 28th, 2006 — Posted in Journal

I got the outside Christmas lights up. I don’t know what the deal is, but I cannot make a string of lights last more than one year. I’ll take them out the next year, and they won’t work at all. Or some of them will work, but two thirds of the lights won’t come on. I don’t get it. A co-worker said she had lights from the eighties still. I have to buy new ones every year. Grrrrr!

So here are some brand-new icicle lights hanging around my porch. When I first put them up, there was a three foot section that didn’t light up. I thought I was going to lose it. Then they sort of just came on. The lights are toying with me…

Pretty good slow shutter pic, eh? I had to set the camera on the ground.

The Tree Goes Up

Posted by Brad on November 27th, 2006 — Posted in Journal

I started decorating for Christmas yesterday, but interrupted myself with a trip to the store that ended up being a trip to four stores. I didn’t get home until later and then didn’t want to do any more decorating.

The last couple of years have been experimenting years for the tree. Last year’s new thing was an angel at the top of the tree. It’s fiber-optic, so it’s fun to watch. This year’s new thing is different lights. These are LED lights and they’re larger than regular and they’re different colors. It’s fun to see the difference. It is a departure from family custom, but I’m enjoying life on the edge.

O Christmas tree, O Christmas tree...

The Filipinos Exit Stage Left

Posted by Brad on November 26th, 2006 — Posted in Journal

Denis’ friends went home last night. They were hoping to miss the heavier Thanksgiving weekend traffic. It was a fun stay. I didn’t learn any more Filipino words. My favorite game was to listen while they were talking and try to interject a comment when I thought I knew what they were saying. It worked sometimes.

I tried to get a picture, but I think they are members of the NYFM (The New York Filipino Mafia). hehe… just kidding. I don’t know why they didn’t like pictures. Here’s the best one I could get:

Black is the new black.
