Camellia

First of all, I have to say: “Happy Birthday, Dolores Leeuwin! Yay!” Actually, I don’t know who she is, but a Google search shows that she was born December 20, 1970. Since I was on a roll with the birthday congrats, I had to find someone to wish a Happy Birthday to. This site says that “Dolores Leeuwin presenteert Het Klokhuis”. What language is that? Dutch?

Anyway, I planted a camellia bush two years ago because I wanted some late season bloom action in my garden. Camellias typically bloom in early or late winter. Last year the flower buds all froze off. This year, we’ve had a few warm spells in December. And the camellia is blooming!

It’s a good thing, too. I had slated this bush for destruction if it wasn’t ever going to bloom. My garden space is filling up. There’s no room for slackers!

Now thats what I call bloom action.

How is that possible? Is this a plant that failed Growing 101? Plants are supposed to bloom in _summer_, perhaps _spring_. I don’t understand.

Hmmm, the stupid technology, coordinator at my school is blocking access to Dolores Leeuwin’s site, so I can see it. Sniff.

By the way, nice picture. You should SOOO get a new digital camera for Christmas (one more suited to the size of your talent) and give your old one to Lauren.

Wow, Dolores Leeuwin – now that is obscure! Yes, it is Dutch. She is a presenter on Het Klokhuis which is a public-tv show aimed at young boys that is mostly about science and art.

BTW, I’m going to Rotterdam on my birthday to see Bløf in concert… my favourite rock group – also Dutch! :)

Ook, hebt u een mooie cameliainstallatie. Nu pronk ik en gebruik enkel met mijn Nederlands – geen dat ik vaak word om te gebruiken!

    Tot Ziens!
    Erin :)

    What the…?

Yeah – internet service is restored here at BLS and I can have my Bradaptation fix for the day!
Lloyd – maybe Brad can sell all the food he is getting from his students and get a nice new digital camera.
Erin – I don’t know Dutch, but I’d like to wish you all a Feliz Navidad!
Excuse me – I now have the urge to go sing!
