My new dishes are in the cabinets now. I’m not really sure what to do with the old dishes. Do I keep them in case I need “overflow” dishes? If I keep them, do I store them in the kitchen itself, or do I store them in a more out-of-the-way place? I was already having trouble with some other items. Take the salad spinner, for instance. I’ve had it for a long time. I’ve used it before, but now I most frequently just buy bagged salad. Should I keep the spinner? If I don’t keep it, what will I put on the top shelf of the corner cabinet?
I also have several sentimental pieces. One is a melamine cereal bowl with a clown in the bottom. When we were kids and wanted to have cereal, the memlamine clown bowl was second only to the melamine bowl that had Disney’s Pluto in the bottom of it. I don’t want to throw this bowl away, but what do I do with it? I also have a mug from when I was in Kindergarten. It was one of those deals where you drew on some paper and some company put it inside a mug for you. My whole class did one. I was patiently raising my hand to ask the teacher how to spell “Ice Cream and Peanuts” because I had drawn a truck that delivered them. She kept going to other people even though I OBVIOUSLY had my hand up first. In a fit of anger, I spelled the words myself. This is what came out:

I DID know how to spell my name:
So what do I do with this mug? I never use it, yet I feel like I should keep it. Right now it’s in the back of a top shelf, never seeing the light of day. Perhaps there it will always stay…
The last Middle School Wrestling meet of the year was yesterday. I took my camera to record the event. Mostly, we got beat pretty badly. There were lots of pins. But we did have one wrestler who pinned all three of his opponents. I got a picture of his third pin. Way to go, Josh!
There are other things to report as well. Right after school, a sandwich bag filled with mysterious nasty substances leaked all over the hallway floor. The smell at first was that of feet. Then it smelled like someone ate the feet and threw up. The feet+vomit smell was almost overwhelming. Fortunately, in the cleaning closet there was a can of super-duper hospital disinfectant and de-smellifier. It worked pretty well. Unfortunately, I must’ve touched some of the substance. I didn’t realize it until I was in the gym. So I went to the boys’ locker room to wash my hands. This is what the bathroom area looks like:

Apparently, this is what it always looks like. To which I say, “Huh?”
There was no soap and no paper towels. I washed my hands with just water and wiped them on my pants.
The most disturbing thing at the meet was the guy in front of us. He kept looking at us from the back of his neck. I mean, if you have eyes in your neck, don’t draw attention to them with sunglasses. Wear a scarf, for goodness sakes!

My brother has found an internet anagram generator. Entering his own name got this interesting result: Born Turkey. Entering my name has only yielded a few useable results. Dry Oak Rub, A Ruby Dork, and Bury A Dork were the most useable in my estimation. Brent uses his anagram for his YouTube screen name. I don’t think I’ll be using anagrams of my name for anything, but it sure is fun to look at. Plus, it’s much easier than wrangling it out manually, as Michele did earlier.
HERE it is so you can try it for yourself.
When I get money or a gift card as a gift, I try to get something specific or special with it. Then I can point to that as the present. My parents gave me some money for Christmas, but I took a long time to decide what to do with it. In the mean time, I got some birthday money too.
So I finally decided: I would get new dishes. I really like what I found. They are Corelle. The design is called Cherry Blossom. It’s from Corelle’s Ultra line. The plates are a little thicker and a little tougher (if you can imagine Corelle actually being tougher). I really like the design. They’re a gardener’s kind of plates. And they’re square! Through some internet searching I found a really good price. Plus, I found a discount code for $10 off!
Thank you to a Yahoo shopping site for giving me the discount code.
Thank you to Cooking.com for giving me the best price.
Thank you to Mom and Dad for getting me new plates for Christmas and my birthday!
So when an extended period of time off is planned, I’m okay with it. I take a trip or I plan a project. I’ve been off for almost a week now and I feel like I’ve wasted vast amounts of time. Today I’m off AGAIN! I’m getting a little stir crazy. Yesterday I started looking for house stuff to do. I had previously been to IKEA to get something for the kitchen. Yesterday I installed it. Can you guess what I’ll use it for? I’ll tell at the end.
I decided to clean the wood floors downstairs. That always takes a while and I had the energy for it. What’s so nice about it is that there is a domino effect. Cleaning the floor means first cleaning the room out and taking care of odd things that have stacked up here and there. After I sweep the floor I use OrangeGlo. I like it because it makes the floor shiny and it smells nice and because Billy Mays sells it. I would buy anything from that guy.
Did you guess what I would use that rack for under my sink? It’s a plastic grocery bag holder!
