My tulips are all coming up beautifully. The mix of bulbs that I ordered last fall was pinks, yellows, reds, and whites. So far, it’s just the pinks and whites. The orangy-reds are right behind. When I ordered, I got a free gift that I was particularly excited about. It was the Towering Prism Tulip (of doom). It’s supposed to be one of the largest tulips ever. Three foot stems! Can you imagine? I wrote about how the bulb was smaller than I expected. I was curious to see if it lived up to expectations.
Well, it might not surprise you to hear that I don’t remember where I planted it. I’ve looked in the tulip beds in front and in back of my house. The tulips coming up all look the same to me. Where’s the Towering Prism?
I LOVE grape hyacinths. They’re the purple flowers in the picture. I’m considering replacing my lawn with them. It will look terrible all year long, but for three weeks out of the year, it would be breathtaking!
Yesterday was day three of my return to Bally’s. I’ve been paying for this membership for the past three years. The first year I went pretty regularly. The second and third years, I didn’t go at all. Would my Bally’s payments be eligible as a tax-writeoff-able donation?
I’m only just using the treadmill right now. I would like to get on the weight machines, but I don’t know what I’d do. Plus it would more than double the time I’m spending there. Half an hour is plenty of time at the moment, thank you very much. I’m just glad I finally went back in there. Since I was gone, the parking lot has a ticketing system where I need to get validation from the front desk person. Also, the card I was using for automatic payment had expired. In November. So the girl at the desk knew I had at least been away for half a year. Little did she know it had been four times that long…
Of course, I can’t take pictures in the gym itself. That would probably get me beat up. So here’s a picture of the top of the building. The gym is actually in the basement.
We’ll see how long this lasts…
Today is Denis’ birthday. It’s a big one, too. But he’s not going to have a party. He doesn’t want one. I say we have a virtual party here on bradaptation! C’mon everybody, sing with me!
Happy birthday to you,
Happy birthday to you,
Happy birthday, dear Denis.
Happy birthday to you!
Yay! {clap, clap, clap, clap}
Post your Birthday greetings to Denis. He’s a lurker at bradaptation. He’ll see your well-wishes.
I’ve come back from gorgeous Amsterdam weather to cold, rainy, windy Baltimore. We’ve had a nor’easter crawl up the coast and dump a bunch of rain on us. Enough rain to totally soak my hallway ceiling and wall because of a leak in my roof. Dang it!
My neighbor has talked with me about replacing our rooves roofs at the same time. He wants to use a membrane roofing material. Basically, it’s a huge sheet of thick rubber that you fasten to the top of your house. It has a 20 year warranty! But the estimate he got for just his side of the roof was almost $10,000. I really can’t afford that right now, so I’m looking into a topcoat of some kind. Liquid Rubber is my front-runner. It is the same kind of rubber as the roofing material my neighbor is looking into, but instead of a sheet, it’s a liquid. You spread/paint it on, and it seals all leaks and cracks. I think this would be a good product for me to use right now, but I’m waiting for someone in the ConsumerReports.org discussion forums to tell me what they think.
I’m hoping my neighbor might be willing to put off the new roof for a couple of years while I pay off my current loan and let my equity build a little more. I think this topcoat would be good for two or three years at least. Then we could do the membrane roof. Then we wouldn’t have to worry about it again for 20 years. Maybe by then, I would have made my millions, and replacing a roof won’t be such a big deal.
Stupid leak…
I HAD to do a second post this morning after reading an email from my brother. You must try this:
1. Go to www.google.com.
2. Go to the “image search” page.
3. Type in “he was no einstein” (be sure to include the quotes)
4. Check out the first two images that come up and where they’re from.
5. COOL!!!
