I ran out of flax seed meal a couple days ago. Having already skipped two mornings, I went out last night to get some more. This time I got two bags, so it should last longer.
It just so happens that the treehugger grocery store where I get the flax seed meal is right next to my favorite sushi place: Sushi Hana! Yay! But it was closed. Dang! There was another Asian restaurant within walking distance! Yay! But they didn’t have the hot dish I wanted. Dang! But they did have sushi. Yay!
Whew! What a rollercoaster of an evening.
My favorite sushi is plain ol’ salmon. In fact, this is the only way I like salmon. Once it’s cooked I almost can’t eat it at all. But raw salmon is sweet and tender.
On Saturday we went to this amazing soup and sandwich place I always go to called Atwaters. Since there was a Tuesday Morning store across the street, my mom and aunts and I went there to window shop. While I was browsing, I saw some silverware I liked. It had some weight to it, it was kind of chunky looking, and it wasn’t froofy. Plus, it was 50% off. It was perfect! I have been looking on and off for a while now because I have somehow lost four teaspoons from my current set. But I decided to follow Lauren’s advice. I put it down and walked away. In fact, I didn’t get it. I just went home.
Well, I couldn’t stop thinking about it, so I went back yesterday and got it. Yesterday after church, my family all went to the airport, and I went to Tuesday Morning. I got the silverware and went back home. And took a nap.
My pictures don’t show the nice heft it has, and doesn’t quite capture how large the tines of the forks are, but here’s what the new set looks like:
No trip to Baltimore is complete without a trip to a crab restaurant. Eating crabs is not everyone’s cup of tea, but for the ones who like it, Baltimore is the place. Since there were many crab fans among the wedding visitors, we went to a crab place yesterday. It was called Canton Dockside. The crabs were really good. Our server was excellent. It was a good time.
This morning my right index finger is sore. I couldn’t figure out why. Then I remembered – I got stabbed by a crabshell. I’ll take good care of this stab wound. I’ve had enough trouble with this finger in the past, what with my strange infection and all.

My parents leave today after church. Then it’s back to Life As Usual.
I’ve been to my first outdoor wedding. It was really cool. It took place at an old inn that has become a restaurant. The outdoor space was in the woods by a creek. It happened at dusk. It was gorgeous weather. Good job, Julian… or should I say Anna?
This is not a very good shot, but it’s the only picture I have of the couple:

There were a lot of people there I didn’t know, so it was nice to have a wedding program. But there was something about the quote on the front of the program that sounded familiar.

I should have caught it right away, especially since I know how well-suited Julian would be for working with middle schoolers. The ring he wears on his right hand should be a clue for you.

Okay, if you still can’t remember where that quote is from, check out the centerpiece on the bride and groom’s table:

It’s a quote from The Nightmare Before Christmas! Isn’t it awesome? I congratulate my cousin and his wife on a very cool wedding! Happy marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Julian Staros!
My parents and aunts arrived safely. They rented a car at the airport so we’d have a big enough vehicle for all of us. They didn’t have the one my dad had ordered, so they had to upgrade him. To a ginormous sedan. I think it’s a Crown Victoria? Anyway, the really cool thing is that it has a GPS navigator in it. We went to the rehearsal dinner for my cousin’s wedding last night. It was at a Red Lobster in Columbia. I, of course, didn’t know where it was. But the lady in the box attached to the dashboard knew. She took us straight there!
On the list for today: hang out with my family. Visit IKEA. Go to a wedding. A big thank you to all my dear, dear friends at school who are covering for me while I’m out. You guys rock!
