Freakishly Hot

So this is an interesting thing about my oil-heat system: The boiler is connected to my hot water heater. Water that is heated in the boiler gets shunted into the hot water heater. I had forgotten. But now that I think about it, that’s why I have to throw the big kill switch when it’s warmer. If I don’t, the boiler will continue to run even in the summer because it’s heating water for the hot water heater.

Also very interesting is the fact that the boiler heats water to rediculous temperatures. So when I turn on the hot water in my sinks or bathtub, it’s dangerously hot. I’ll tell you what, this sure tests whether or not I’m awake as I’m getting into the shower. “Turn the hot water on only a LITTLE bit.”

I don’t have a kitchen thermometer, so I can’t show how hot the water is, but I tried to get pictures of the billowing clouds of steam that come out when I turn on the hot water. It’s hot!

How hot is it?

It's so hot, the devil wouldn't do dishes here.

Youch! That’s some hot water! I’m glad that’s not in my house – not because of the temperatures, but because of the conversations I would have to endure about the temperature…

That’s so cool!!! Your kitchen could be a sauna! I wish you had a thermometer – do you think you could soft-cook an egg in your tap water?

The devil does dishes? I should invite him for dinner.

Anybody else see the Virgin Mary in that steam?

My heart breaks for your poor torched plants. Killer.

I was just passing through and saw the electrical cord dangling over your sink…Do you have a death wish?
