The End of the Third Age

Last night I witnessed the defeat of Mehrunes Dagon, the death of Martin Septim, and the end of the Third Age. In other words, I finished the main quest on my Xbox video game Oblivion! Yay! For those of you who have not experienced such a thing, it’s like a fever breaking: the worst of my addiction is over.

This has been a long time in coming. At times, playing this game even displaced TV watching! I’m glad it’s mostly done with. But I’m kind of sad, too. Games like this tell stories, and now the story is pretty much over. There are a few side stories to pursue still, but the main tale has been told.

It’s hard to take pictures in the middle of all the action, so here is the last time I talked with Martin before he sacrificed himself to save Cyrodiil:

Good-bye, Martin. We hardly knew ye.

A fine quest. Poor Martin, I hope his sacrifice was worth it.

So your fever has broken …don’t worry, I’m sure a relapse is just around the corner.
