The Blue Heron

Yesterday was a relaxing start to my days here. I woke up crazy-late, then didn’t shower until noon. The afternoon was spent hanging out at Harold and Beth’s and watching Tara play in her ballerina clothes and listening to the funny sounds Tim makes. A trip to Walmart was a nice diversion.

At night, the grown-ups all went to a relatively new bar in Seward called the Blue Heron. Downstairs is an art gallery during the day. Upstairs is a cool bar at night. My mom brought crazy Christmas hats, and we had various kinds of drinks. I was cold, in spite of my heavy Belgium coat, so I got a hot drink. I didn’t get a picture of it, but some of Harold’s former students were there. They made him look small, which was hilarious. Harold is always the biggest one in the room. Those guys were GIANTS.

Here we are enjoying all the meats and cheeses my mom brought:

Cheers!

“Crazy late”??? By that, folks, he means that he got out of bed at 7:10.

It was a very fun night – the food, the drinks, and most of all the company was fantastic! Those Royuks know how to party!

I wish your crazy cold weather had been here yesterday – we could have had lots of snow! Walking The Avenue in the rain (after getting a haircut and manicure – something you’ll never hear me say again) was a real pain in the arse!
My girlfriend Beth and I went to see the movie Juno last night – I wanted to go right back in and see it again. It was crazy funny AND I cried at least three times. I guess that means Brad would have cried six times!

Michele–That was possibly the worst movie I’ve ever seen. And now I am no longer allowed to pick the movie. But I did blame you. It might have been the 12 year old pregnant Punky Brewster flirting with the 37 year old married man & him flirting back that made me sick … I’m not sure. I do know I laughed at the comments the 20 something year old male was making who sat behind me (who said “Oh grooooss”, as young Punky put on her lipstick for Mr. Married Man). And I did cry at spending $9.50 on this movie.

The worst movie I ever saw was American Psycho–but Peggy’s boyfriend Christian is in it, maybe I would like it a second time.

The worst movie I remember seeing was that Ghost Rider flick Brad made us see!
Peggy obviously went with the wrong people to see Juno. And, clearly the outspoken man behind her ruined it for her. Never go to theaters where people talk aloud during the movie – right Brad?

Juno was terrible … unless maybe if you saw if with some pedophiles. And if it wasn’t for the funny guy behind me, I might have left or barfed. As it was, I had to take a shower when I got home. I’ll admit there were one or two chuckles, but that didn’t make up for the rest of it.

And Brad didn’t make us see Ghost Rider. Me & Kim wanted to see that.

My movie pics for the Holiday season are:

            National Treasure 2 thumbs up
PS I Love You 2 thumbs up
Juno it would be less painful to stick a fork in your eye

I’m sorry Pegs if you went to see Juno on my recommendation. Obviously you have strong resentment about this. Next time I see you remind me to give you $9.50 … and a fork!

            hehehe

          • Peggy

Make it $50.00, for emotional damages, & all will be forgiven.

        • Peggy

No, American Psycho was awful! I’m glad I didn’t see that movie until after I already liked him.

That looks like great fun!!! And what super cool hats!!

And, uh, what are you drunk Brad? “I didn’t get a picture of it” Isn’t that you in the gray scarf with a drink? Just exactly what was in that hot drink?

And, are you allowed to bring in your own food at bars in Seward?

    • Peggy

scratch this whole comment … You didn’t get a picture of the giant former students … duh!

      • Lauren

        I missed it, too.

I’m still trying to locate the “grown-ups” in this picture.
