So… Dry…

My lips have been kind of dry lately, but yesterday was insane. I tried just drinking water, but then I had to go to the bathroom between every class, so I started using the lip balm. I try to avoid using lip balm if I can. It seems to me that when you start using it, your lips get used to it or something and then you have to use it all the time. I don’t like the stuff. But my lips were so dry, I didn’t have a choice.

My favorite kind is Blistex “Complete Moisture”. I like it because it isn’t as waxy as Chapstick, and it’s lemony. I usually have a couple of them around the house somewhere from previous winters, but I think I’m just down to this one. And I really used a lot of it yesterday. Maybe it’s time for another tube. Or maybe it’s time to start running a humidifier full time in my classroom. It’s already freaky hot in there because the boiler is right under my floor. Add oppressive humidity to the equation and the kids would always be sleepy! Muah-ha-ha-ha!

I don't know why I need sunscreen... its dark all winter!

I understand the ‘use it and now you need it forever’. I’ve always had dry lips. My most embarrassing lip moment was for Kathryn’s wedding. we went to some department store for makeovers, and the woman put some ‘lady of the night’ dark-as-can-be lipstick on me. I hated it, but when she wiped it off, it stuck to the two scabs on my bottom lip. (Hope nobody’s eating now.) She said, “Honey, you need to moisturize!”

Lip balm is my friend all winter long…then I don’t need it the rest of the year! Be Brave.
My favorite was recommended by Michele. It is called “Watch your Mouth” by TrueBlueSpa. Wonderful.

Kim – I REALLY recommended it because the title suited you, Little Miss Dirty Mouth!

hehehe…I haven’t said anything today to get me fired…but we are only in 5th period!

TrueBlueSpa IS INDEED wonderful for us adults, but as my kids developed “extra lips” each winter 🙁 I found a solution perfect for them. Mix a little Aquafor ointment with 1% hydrocortizone cream (a little on each index finger and smoosh together.) It works wonderfully! 🙂

Sometimes I just put lotion/cream on them, but never the smelly kind.

I too am a user, hopefully not an abuser.

Did you know they have an actual organization for abusers of Lip Balm? It’s called, Lip Balm Anonymous of course.

    I can’t figure out if it’s a joke or not ….

J-1 is ideal for you for the very reason you stated above, Brad – intense heat from October to May to anesthetize your charges each period. You like it warm, too, right? Just what the doctor ordered. Dear Ned would have loved that classroom I bet…sniffle…

Ask me tomorrow about the joys of Class 7 today – the students really were good…but the KJV key for clues they were to have gotten from their NIV Bibles, that one was rough. I volunteer to rewrite that crossword for ya’ even!

Did you have jury duty again today (word on the street had it – aka so your students mumbled. I naively thought your were covering handbells or choir – silly me.)? You gotta move to the County, fella: 24 years at the same address and jury duty (for a week, though) for yours truly only once.

My lip balm of choice is Mary Kay Extra Emollient Night Cream. It’s wonderfully rich, so not much is needed. It’s also incredibly versible – if your hands get chapped, just glob some on at night and in the morning you’re as good as new. I love it!
