It rained a LOT yesterday. In the morning, some of the rain was freezing on the ground, so we had a two hour delay for school. It warmed up during the day, but it continued to rain and rain and rain. I took advantage of the rain by putting my jasmine outside for a while. It had red spider mites. In previous years, I’d just wash it off in the shower, but this year I took it to school. I tried squirting it with water from a bottle, but it just wasn’t the same as a full-on shower. The rain did the job for me though. Spider mites: gone.
When I came home I wasn’t so happy about the rain. My computer room ceiling was leaking horribly. Water was dripping from two different spots. The paint had fallen away. Grrrr! And now my computer room smells like wet horsehair because they used horsehair in the plaster of my house when it was built in 1902.
I can’t do anything about my leaky roof until temperatures are consistently above 55 degrees. And I need it to be dry. In the meantime, I’ll just have to use buckets. And air fresheners.
I hope I’m not out of line for saying this…but, even I would need a pill to get through this mess! I’m sick for you!
So sorry.
Dnag it. That sucks. Or drips, as the case is.
bummer.
That is so sad! (About the hatch being roofed over, I mean.)
Your ceiling…. well, there just aren’t words. I’m glad your spider mites are gone, though. Take small comfort in that.
I don’t think they’re gone. It was freezing rain, right? I suspect it’s simply cryonics.
Thanks … now I cant’ get “Raindrops keep falling on my head …. ” out of my mind ….
But seriously, that does stink! My sincere condolences.
Could you put a tarp on the roof or something.
And is that a plasma TV on the wall … you should at least cover it in bad weather.
On the sunnier side, Brad, now even when you’re home you can easily imagine being at school: in the gym (leak in the bleacher section now), the kitchen (leak over the sinks and running down the pipe from the roof), the front lobby of the US building, or any of the many other places that don’t have the nifty Middle School roof repair job of ’05 (I think).
“…and that would be looking on the sunnier side how?”
My heart does go out to you, sir – our roof is not new any more, so but for the grace of God…did the drips and falling ceiling miss your computer? I guess if you are able to post this from home, the answer would be “enough to function”. OK, that’s a blessing at least. Wish we could sponsor a middle schol dress down day fund raiser now for Mr. Royuk’s ceiling. …..
