For overwintering purposes, I’ve brought my pineapple plants inside. I’ve put them in the sunniest window in the house. They look like they’ve been doing okay. The one that bloomed this past summer is looking a little messy because it’s covered with side-shoots. I may re-pot some of the shoots. Or I may just kill them because, you know, that’s what I do.
The one that didn’t bloom this past summer has started to bloom now. Yikes! Not yet! Was it triggered by the lengthening of days? …by age? …by warmth from the heater? It’s a sunny window, but it’s nothing like full sun exposure outside. I’m afraid the blooms will come out all spindly, fall over, and die. Dang it! If the blooms could have waited another six weeks, I could have put the plant outside. What am I going to do now?
My vote is kill it. Go with what you know and are good at.
HA!!
It’s obvious – move to to the tropics for the good of your plant.
Yes, and be sure to buy a house with several guest bedrooms so that we can come to visit.
Oh, and get a maid so that you can garden all day and come inside to fabulous (or even merely passable) food and we can all have a beer and let someone else clean up the dishes.
One and a half simple words my friend. Green-house. If you build it, he will come.
Oh my goodness! I’ve never thought of you having a greenhouse. You totally need to get yourself one of those.
perhaps he could use the cat fund to instead build a greenhouse.
best use of funds…greencat house
How about a green cat?
I’m thinking you should build one next to that brick wall in the back of your yard. Those yucky duct tape marks from your efforts to grow ivy are unsightly man! Ditch the ivy idea and hide it with a greenhouse! That’s just my two cents.
Could your pineapple be confused by all those heating pads blasting?

Peggy, you are on fire!
