Leap Year Party

Brady (of Bradaptation fame) and his wife Lark had a Leap Year Party last night. It was a celebration of February 29. There were many tasty treats, including cheese and chocolate fondues. There were also many children under 3 ft. tall. They were fun to watch.

After everyone got there, Brady and Lark led a contest. They had twenty-nine questions that related to the number twenty-nine. If you could answer a question correctly, you would get a point value drawn from a basket. All point values were also somehow related to 2, 9, and 29. Some of the questions were a “no” for me, like “Does your Social Security number have a twenty-nine in it?” Some of them were questions almost everyone could do, like “Write twenty-nine states in two minutes.” Some of them I just had no idea, like “Who was the twenty-ninth president?” (Warren G. Harding) The question I was one of the only ones to get was “Is there a twenty-nine in your address?” It was worth two-ninths of a point. D’oh!

The question I was most proud of answering was “Write a sentence that has exactly twenty-nine letters in it.” Many people did this successfully. My sentence was “This sentence has exactly 29 letters.”

One question pertained to the Bible verse they have on their wall. Interestingly enough, it’s a quote from Psalm 29. But Lark had covered the verse number. We were to guess it. I got it wrong.

You'll never guess it.

So, you’re baiting us? You and your captions…

I guess: 2 (or 9, but I’m sticking with 2 because I like even numbers better)

  2. Michele says:

That sounds like a VERY COOL party. Did anyone there actually have a Leap Year birthday?
Kudos to you Brady for being so creative!

What a fun idea for a party! Even though I’m a hermit, I’m a little jealous. (We spent Leap Day watching t.v. – my favorite activity.) LOVE the stenciling on the wall! Tell Brady and Lark that they are super-cool, especially Lark for having such an awesome name.

Geez, you gave the answer already. I would have guessed 29, 2 or 9 … probably 2, because the odds are there aren’t even 29 verses in that psalm & I just don’t like the number 9. It’s not attractive.

And I LOVE decorating for special events, but I gotta say, I’ve never painted a wall for one … or invited guests who were only 2.9 feet tall.

Very cool indeed! Looks like a lot of fun!

Fun party idea! At least we had an end-of-day assembly to celebrate Leap Day.

Don’t open up THAT can of worms Kim!

    • Carol says:

Gee, I think Leap Day/Year was just about the only thing NOT acknowledged in our gym from 1:33 until 3 pm yesterday afternoon – whew!

Now, I just want to know how one wrangled an invite to that there festivity at Noah’s parents’ house. Hmmm…Brad rates, I see. ‘Course, we already knew that, didn’t we? Wink

  6. Deanne says:

Is the verse painted on the wall or is it a banner?

    • Brady G. says:

Painted on the wall about 3 or 4 years ago. Actually, it was coincidental that it was 29:2, but it sure makes us look pretty smart.
