Field Trip

First of all, I have to say: Happy Birthday, Denis! Yay!

Yesterday was our Spring Field Trip Day. I went with the seventh graders. I was “in charge” of this one, so I was anxious about everything going well. It did, so I’m glad.

In the morning, we went on a walking tour of old town Annapolis. It’s very historicistic. It’s been the capital of Maryland forever. For a short time, it was even the capital of the United States. Pretty cool, huh?

Here’s a replica of the Liberty Bell that the kids swarmed all over. It’s on the campus of St. John’s College, which sounds like an interesting and unusual place to go to school.

This one isn't cracked.

We ate lunch in the dock area. Here I must leave myself notes for next year: Brad, plan for only 30 minutes at lunch, and specifically tell the chaperones not to take their groups away from the lunch area.

After lunch, we went on a boat ride. During the ride we were entertained by a pirate guy. He had people come up and participate in a story he told. I was Davy Jones. One of my students vanquished me and I sunk to the bottom of the sea.

All aboard the Harbor Queen. Arr!

It was a bright, sunny day. I got a serious sunburn on my face and scalp. I should have worn a hat. This would have been a great opportunity to buy the top hat I’ve been coveting from www.top-hats.com, if I wasn’t broke from paying taxes. I held an icepack on my head all during Bible study last night. Everyone was very gracious not to giggle while we talked.

UPDATE: Okay, here’s a picture of my head, but I don’t know if the redness shows up or not because my school laptop screen doesn’t have great color.

The white paper is for color comparison.

Ha! This post is rich in content! What to choose? What to choose?

    1. How did St. John’s get Lloyd’s hair without his permission?

    2. Is it the ‘Caroler’ hat you want?

    3. I didn’t recognized the copy of the Liberty Bell without a copy of Anna under it.

We want to see your head!

      I’m certain that is tomorrow’s post. 😉

Yea, the red shows up … which will soon be tan … which is why I hate you. Maybe I’ll try one of those spray tanning salons … what’s the worst that could happen?

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DENIS!!! Seems like just yesterday that you celebrated that special, 21st wasn’t it, birthday!

Have a great one! And hey, I brought back some Grappa from Italy if you want to try it … or very good Pinot Grigio! 🙂

Brad – talk to Gary Doede about St. John’s College some day – I believe he is an alum on one level or the other. It’s one of those Great Classic Books Curriculum places – somewhere Michele would have loved, for example, because of all the reading (ahem).

Too bad you cut your hair. Maybe you wouldn’t have had such a red head. On the other hand, I really like the fact that you cut your hair. On the other hand…

I’d still like to see a quarter for scale – to show how big your forhead is!

Where are you?? Are you out having fun?
