Welcome to Brad's online memory archives.

Not Done

The kids are out of school, but things are far from over. First, there’s the Middle School meetings. We’re scheduled for five days. Then there’s the all-school meetings. Another four days. What could we possibly talk about for nine days? I’m a little worried I’ll fall asleep. Good thing I’ve been laying off the coffee lately. My tolerance for caffeine should be down.

In between all the meetings, I also have to finish my teacher duties. I let my grading pile up a little the last couple of weeks, so I have lots to do in that area. I also need to put stuff away in my classroom: pack maps away, take down posters, clear off bulletin boards, etc. I started on my desk yesterday. It looks neater now, but I still have a ways to go.

A clean desk is a sign of a sick mind.

I’ve seen it many times, but let me be the first to say:

    “that is neater?”

How’d you get such a nice chair? It looks so …Donald Trump. (or Darth Vader.) And what’s in that box?

    • Kristi

Ha! I was thinking Darth Vader, too. May the force be with you, Brad, as you tackle this desk.

  3. Peggy

Brad, I think you forgot to post the “after” picture.

Wow! Wow! I said it two times.

First, nine meetings? What could you possibly talk about? It makes me glad to work in a public school. End of the year and there are no scheduled meetings! Kids are gone…I am too.

Secondly, you really do need to “de-clutter.” Maybe you should have someone help you toss stuff out? If your desk looks like that, I wonder what your closet looks like?

    • Lauren

His closet is crazy organized! Don’t you have wooden hangers, Brad?

      • kiwe

No wonder I like this blog. My closet has all white hangers and is organized by color and type of clothing. My desk and room at school is also like that.

I just want to defend Brad on the desk thing. I am really only seeing one layer of clutter, probably all things that are less than 2 weeks old. The end of the school year is a really busy time; things pile up a bit. He’ll probably get through that in a jif.

    • Michele

Nope. More layers. Older than 2 weeks.
It will all probably end up in a plastic grocery bag and then who knows where!

Whosever room this is should be ashamed!
His underwear is hanging on the lamp.
His raincoat is there in the overstuffed chair,
And the chair is becoming quite mucky and damp.
His workbook is wedged in the window,
His sweater’s been thrown on the floor.
His scarf and one ski are beneath the TV,
And his pants have been carelessly hung on the door.
His books are all jammed in the closet,
His vest has been left in the hall.
A cat named Max is asleep in his bed,
And his smelly old sock has been stuck to the wall.
Whosever room this is should be ashamed!
Donald or Robert or Brad or–
Huh? You say it’s mine? Oh, dear,
      I knew it looked familiar!

      • Lauren

        Awww… I love Shel Silverstein!

And I would like to point out the pictures of those adorable kids on the wall next to his desk. Adorable.
