I spent most of the day at school yesterday, even though we were off. I wanted to make seating charts for all my classes because the kids seem to settle in better when they aren’t allowed to sit wherever they want.
But before I could make new seating charts, I had to shuffle the furniture a little. Handbells and choir will be taught in my classroom during my afternoon free period, and I had to figure out how to make space for a piano. After trying several arrangements, I finally got it: I would turn the student desks around and make the back of my room the new front. It would work because I have chalkboards on either wall. But once I moved the student desks, I had to move the aquarium. Then I had to move my desk. Then I needed a small bookshelf. Then I needed to move my TV. Then I needed to move the bell equipment…
I never finished the seating arrangements.

Okay then: you have just answered the $64K question for me; that is, “I wonder if the piano will stay in J-10 all year even though there are no music classes offered here, or if it can be moved somewhere so I might finally arrange my desks how they will be henceforth and forevermore and make a seating chart for each class – minus one piano.” God bless you, my child – it appears from your photo you even went so far as to move the piano down there already. While I mourn with you about the lack of seating charts yet, I dance over this bit of news. You celebrated your accomplishments with a Jim Dandy haircut; I celebrate by staying away from campus one more day. De gustibus non disputandum est.
So…you speak Latin?
It’s so early and already I have learned new things.
Oui!
Ja!
Si!
It’s the English that gives me difficulty at times, Beth…
And now YOUR desk is at the back of the room. I like that better. Then when you’re at your desk, kids can’t see you without turning around and there’s a little fear in that. Good healthy fear.
Did you have them cut off all your green hair?! How am I going to find you next weekend?
Next weekend…? Next weekend???
Oh, duh, your reunion. Now I feel sad, but I’m happy for you guys. Have SOOOOOOO much fun!
Hey, you get your hair cut the same way I cut my shrubs.
Dnag it – you stole my ‘back is the new front’ comment. Now I have nothing.
Well, I could comment on the “Become what you are” poster. If you need more gems like that, you could look here. http://www.despair.com/laziness.html
I wondered why the eighth graders were having so much trouble walking last week …
