I didn’t really do anything very productive yesterday, so I’ll let my work on Saturday count for the whole weekend.
I went in to school early Saturday morning and put up the bulletin board in the hallway for the eighth grade verse. They chose that perennial favorite of kids, 1 Timothy 4:12 “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you’re young…” I'll have fun telling them the guy that was written to was in his thirties.
I think I actually kind of enjoy doing bulletin boards. But don’t tell anybody.
You and your mad skilz. It’s very cool. Do you draw these out before you make them or just start cutting paper as the spirit moves you?
Genius!
Quite wonderful. How did you get the idea for the people-outlines?
Heck with the 8th graders – this could be the Mr. Royuk verse for as many years as he is still at BLS – you are just about the Spring Chicken on our staff, no?* So thanks for setting such a good example for us in so many things, Brad – I’ll try really hard not to ever look down on you but I am kinda tall, so…
* Terylee doesn’t count – she’s probably 87 and just ages very well.
P.S.
As always, a superior artistic rendering of this well-worn verse. Bravo! If the religion teaching/chapel coordinating ever goes south for you, I’m thinking a career in art…no?
Ehhxcellent!!!!
So I’ve heard you have awesome art skilz… more than once now…and your bulletin boards certainly validate that fact….soooooo, when will you sketch me an underwater scene…or at least a dolphin…you can do it on paper…unless you only do your best work on the bottom of feet.
HAHAHAHAHA!!!
He does do excellent work on the bottom of feet. Too bad we didn’t take any pictures. (For that matter, we didn’t take pictures of anything back then…except on the beach, at 5am, with bed-head, squinting ridiculously into a sunrise, thank you Mom.)
I didn’t answer any questions yesterday because the internet was up and down again at school.
The idea came all at once. I wanted them to notice that the verse isn’t just about them “…set an example for the belivers…”, so I needed multiple people. I’d seen figures like this before somewhere, so it’s not original.
I sketched them on the paper with a pencil, then cut them out by running the scissors through the paper like a zipper. It makes less jagged cuts that way.
