Guys And Dolls

The same student who was involved in “Jesus Christ Superstar” last year is in “Guys And Dolls” this year. I went to see it last night. It was fun to watch. I’ve never seen that particular musical before. I did recognize a couple of songs though. I knew the opening song, Fugue for Tinhorns. I also knew Luck be a Lady, though I think it was from Frank Sinatra singing it, not Marlon Brando.

It was in the Greek Orthodox church again, since it was a production of their youth group. They had a great spread at intermission. I was short on cash, so I couldn’t get any pizza. Cookies were only 50 cents though.

The kids did a great job. They had their usual little kids being extremely cute. They also had some great singers, most notably the guy playing Sky Masterson and the girl playing Miss Adelaide.

I’m pretty sure I don’t know the story line of any of the well known musicals. Any. It’s a little embarassing now that I think about it…

    • Lloyd

I, on the other hand, know the story lines and lyrics to far too many musicals –for a straight guy. Maybe we should get together?

And I’ll help you with the NFL teams, players and records.

        It’s a deal.

“I love you, a bushel and a peck.
A bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck.”

Right? I think my grandpa sang that to me. Boy, if you ever need somebody to know the lyrics to musicals, say – if you were on a game show, call Lloyd. It’s weird. Weird, I say.

      yet endearing.

Great shot of Kara! Looks like you got a better seat this time. I’m so glad you got to go. I was too swamped with work to go. But did find time to finally watch “Ironman” with the family – probably not as good as Guys and Dolls though.

Thanks for posting Kara’s shot, Brad – I can give her grief tomorrow about how I knew nothing about this and therefore did not attend to give her support…or I could be more mature about it and merely tell her I heard she did a great job as usual and offer congratulations. She does love her theater alrightee. Maybe she’ll go Broadway some day and mention in a TV interview all us “little people” at her old school who helped her become the gal she is/would be by then. Or not.

[…and wasn’t Guys and Dolls the one with Janet Leigh as the Salvation Army lady? If not, who wasthat actress anyway?’]

Awww.. Guys and Dolls…good show. Overdone. I have had to listen to far to many BAD audition numbers from this show. I am so jaded and critical when it comes to theatre.
Good for you, though Brad. You have now seen 2 theatrical productions within one month.

    I AM PROUD OF YOU!
