I’ve recently participated in four different fundraisers. I tell the kids that I’ll buy one thing per fundraiser, so the first to ask me will get a sale. It seems strange that they would all clump together, but maybe there’s an ebb and flow to fundraisers. In this instance, the fund raisers were:
* Our school-wide Innisbrook sale, which features gift wrap, but offers other gifts. I ordered some peanuts and some dried apricots.
* Joe Corbi’s, sold by the cross-country team. It features pizza, which I don’t care for, and cookie dough, which I don’t care for, and pretzels, which I haven’t had yet. I ordered some pretzels.
* A popcorn and birdseed sale by a student who is a Boy Scout. I ordered popcorn for me and birdseed for the birds. I hope I don’t mix them up.
* Girl Scout cookies sold by a girl I don’t yet have in class because she’s a sixth grader. I got eight boxes. I like Girl Scout cookies.
I’ve had the Girls Scout cookies for a while. I’m eating them for at lunch each day. The Innisbrook order came in two days ago. The student I ordered from gave me my peanuts and apricots yesterday. I ate half the apricots immediately. Mmmm…

I really like the packaging for the apricots. Is that broccoli for a garnish?
(And your pen looks like a sonic screwdriver!)
If you like the pretzels, you can have ours. They weren’t our favorites.
It seems weird that I don’t like anything from Joe Corbi’s. Am I strange, or is it just bad? Do other people like it, or are they just buying it because it’s for a good cause? I’d rather just give the cross-country team $20, but the coach consistently returns my checks when I do that.
Which is totally crazy. Almost everything sold for a fundraiser is something I’d never buy, so why not just take the money? Crazy.
It’s especially crazy when you think that the net of $20 spent on a fundraiser is, like $8. Crazy, crazy.
Freys don’t enjoy Corbi products either. Doesn’t mean in past years we’ve not had our fridge or freezer full of boxes that never get eaten just to “support the cause”, though.
Sorry Brad, but I think you have a typo in your post…it says you got eight boxes of cookies….hehe….imagine buying 8 boxes of cookies at one time… hehe
Imagine not eating them all in one sitting!!
Don’t Girl Scout cookies come 4 to a box now?
How many boxes did YOU buy, Peggy?
