Yesterday a big rainstorm came through. It was pretty windy. It knocked out the power to my neighborhood. At first I thought I’d just wait it out, but then my neighbor said he called BGE (Baltimore Gas and Electric), and they said the estimated time of restored power was 10:30pm – 11:00pm. I went out. I decided to hang out at the mall a little, then I went to IKEA to get their package of 100 tealights for $4. I was home around 8:30pm, at which time the power was still not on, and after puttering by candle light for a while, I went to sleep. My house is boring without electricity.
This morning I woke up late. My bedroom curtains are light-darkening and I didn’t have a clock. And my house is boring without electricity. The power was still out. After going to church and attending two after-church meetings, I’ve come to school to post. I’ll spend the day driving to the music store in Pennsylvania. I called BGE and they said they hope to have power restored by today.
It’s a little chilly in the house, so Denis was worried about Max. Before I got back from my church meetings today, he made Max a sweater out of an old sleeve. I think it makes a rather stricking mock turtle neck.

HAHAHAHAHA!!! That mockneck sleeve has it goin’ on, Max!
I was going to call and check on you if I didn’t see a post by now. I thought there might be something terribly, terribly wrong. But alas, it’s just boring.
Denis, you have mad skills!! Sorry about your boring house, but if you need any ideas for those tealights, I’ve got you covered!
Can you design a little cat heater from tealights?
Oh, yes…..
And you’re sure it won’t cook the cat…just heat him up?
That really turned out amazingly well, practical, and stylishly, Denis. When should we expect Max to be a Project Runway/America’s Top Model contestant then?
…and you had two meetings after church today, Brad?! [As if Open House on Saturday wasn't enough sapping of the weekend, eh?] Poor guy.
For some strange reason, while we Rosedalians used to always lose our electricity in storms, in recent years our house remains unscathed by wind, rain, sleet, gloom of night…maybe it’s the underground faults, of which we’ve had two in about that same amount of time. How they could possibly help that situation when in general they reduce power to the house overall I have no idea, but worse comes to worse, Brad, get a reeeeeeealy long extension cord and we’ll be glad ta’ hook ya’ up here.
The power’s back! Yay!
I didn’t end up going to Pennsylvania because the place was closed. Instead, I went to Owings Mills Mall. It was a strange place.
Now to play some computer games and watch TV and turn on all the lights in the house!
hehe…Welcome back to the 21st century!
So how does Max like his outfit?
Hi Max! You are looking lovely in your house coat…very slimming.
Hi Carol!
I am posting from goodolebaltimore again! We had a very fun time with our family in Dallas…lots of pictures, food, games, hugs, and tears (as we said good-bye).
But it does feel great to be home! See all y’all BLS citizens of Bradaptationland in the morning.
BTW: We have electricity but no heat. We are getting our third estimate in the morning to replace our 20+ year old heating/air conditioning unit. Merry Christmas to the Hoffman family.
YAY!!!! Kim’s back….Yippee!! Woo Hoo!!! Hi Kim!! Can’t wait to see your pictures & hear your stories!!
:+)
Denis-You are the Top Designer!! Great job!! But I’m a little concerned about why there was “an” old sleeve lying around…did you find it down in the basement & more importantly, was there an old arm in it?!?
Ha! It was a moth-eaten sweater. Denis said Max should be excited because it’s DKNY.
Denis – that outfit is fierce! I love the way you designed it with your client in mind, yet still allowed your own style to show through. Denis … you are “in”!
Way. Fierce.
