Weird Day

It started off with the announcement of a two hour delay because of snow. I was almost out the door before I heard it because there was only a light dusting at my house. I decided to go to school at the normal time, and get some work done. Between home and school, the snow cover got lighter and lighter. By the time I got to school, there wasn’t a single flake on the ground.

School was delayed for this? Hehehe

After starting at 10am, we got the message that the roof work on the high school building was so disruptive that classes could not continue. School would close at 12:30pm.

Beautiful (but very cold) early dismissal.

But the middle school had a wrestling dual. It wasn’t going to be canceled on account of a roof, so the boys stayed until 2:20, and we went to our competition. We hung out in the computer room until it was time to leave for wrestling.

They were entertained for about an hour, then they were 'so bored'.

They wrestled hard again, but didn’t win very many matches. There were a few injuries this time – a strangled throat, a bloody nose, and pulled back muscles. I hope this isn’t the beginning of a trend of injuries. I’m not a very good nurse.

Extreme Grand Master

Lately I haven’t had much energy when I get home. I can only watch a little TV or something, then go to bed. Last night after another church meeting, I was feeling kind of grouchy, so I just left the recorded TV shows for another night and played Peggle Nights. I’ve been struggling to conquer one last level. Last night, I did it. I scored the target score and cleared all the pegs. I have become an Extreme Grand Master. It feels good.

Congratulated by name.

Though I didn’t get a haircut like I did when I became a Grand Master, I did take a portrait picture. Behold an Extreme Grand Master of Peggle:

I rock.

Propagation?

If I have flowers in my garden, I always cut some and take them to Bible study because I’m never allowed to contribute to the food preparation. On a Thursday in November, I was on my way to Bible study and cut some roses from my garden. But I had also cut some other flowers and ended up taking them, so the roses stayed in my kitchen.

Old roses.

Eventually the flowers dried out, but they looked kind of nice, so I let them be. Now a couple months later, I’ve thought maybe I should throw them away. But then I noticed that some of the leaves were still alive. Then I noticed the stems had something clustered on the cut ends. Are they roots? Are these roses propagating themselves? I’ve never seen anything like this. I’d love to stick them into some dirt so they can grow properly, but I’m afraid of changing things for fear that the roots will die.

A curiosity...

New Rolls

Speaking of tissue, I’ve been really low on toilet paper for the last couple of days. Over the weekend, I tried to buy some new, but I couldn’t find my brand, Angel Soft. The shelves at Target were empty of it. So were the shelves at Safeway. Was there some kind of sale going on? Had Angel Soft suddenly become the most popular kind of toilet paper? I was getting a little worried. Lloyd and Lauren can attest to the fact that I’m pretty loyal to Angel Soft. I have my own supply at their house.

Yesterday I finally found some at Giant. Whew! Changing to another brand would have been expensive and time consuming. I have my precious, precious Angel Soft.

Max likes it too.

Prepared

Yesterday I went to my local membership warehouse store. I needed more Carnation Instant Breakfast. While I was there, I remembered how frustrated I’ve been lately that I don’t have more boxes of tissues around the house. I’ve especially noticed it in the kitchen and living room. If I had a runny nose, I had to hurry to the bathroom and grab some toilet paper, which would often catch on my lip stubble and leave embarrassing shreds until I scrubbed my face with a towel. Sheesh!

So I bought some tissues. A lot of tissues. Hopefully this won’t be a problem for a while. The only rooms without tissues now are the dining room and the basement. But I’m considering putting boxes there too…

How long does a single box last, I wonder?
