I went to a wedding yesterday. It’s the first wedding I’ve been to since October 2007. At yesterday’s wedding, the bride was a former co-worker of mine, and the groom was the son of a current co-worker. Consequently, there were a lot of us from school in attendance.
The service was nice. The groom’s dad is a pastor, so he officiated and preached. Many aspects of the service made me smile. Seeing the pastor give the subtle nod to begin… the bride entering to the wedding music from “Sound of Music”… hearing the Bible reader’s Wisconsin accent… watching the groomsmen fidget… It was all delightful. Well done, wedding planning people!
I particularly liked the bride’s dress. It had a blue sash around the waist. I don’t remember seeing a wedding dress that used color before. It was nice.
I had trouble sneaking a picture during the service because my camera makes terribly loud beeping noises when I turn it on, so I only got a blurry exit photo. I’ll leave the beautifulness of the scene to your imagination.
Mr. and Mrs. Foelber:

John’s the older brother, right? Because Paul can’t be old enough to get married yet, right?
Sheesh. Even teaching college kids makes me feel old. At least I haven’t taught children of former students yet. *sigh*
First of all – best title ever, Batman!
Second, I also like the dresses that incorporate color. I really like the kind that have a panel in the back. For instance, I would have liked this one in green: http://redhotbrides.com/blog/index.php/2008/07/15/title-1
Maybe Lloyd and I should renew our vows, eh?
I love that dress!!!
Me too!! I would go for a light pink panel… And I really loved the new Mrs. Foelber’s dress as well! I like the new trend of color in the wedding dress…from the few I’ve seen!
To Beth: John is the older one. Paul is 21..he’s standing up on the ultar on the right.
There are many things that I’m going to do differently at my next wedding.
Me too!
There were neat little favors at the reception, too, to show the melding of the two families: packets of seeds – pumpkin seeds (representing the bride’s family’s veggie farm) and Black-eyed Susan seeds (for the state flower of MD). The bride’s father talked about them a bit; it was sweet. Toasts from both the matron and from Paul as best man were excellent. My favorite time was watching the dance floor: Megan and John (was this their first time?)…John’s paternal grandparents…his Dad’s brother…then some older folks I couldn’t name but they all sure knew how to “get down and get funky”, I wanna tell ya’! I smiled a lot…between yawns.
