I had a relaxing snow day yesterday. I got up at the regular time. After hearing about school being cancelled, I was too awake to go back to sleep. I shoveled the sidewalk, had some breakfast, put some laundry in, and played computer games. A couple hours later, I watched some TV. Then I fell asleep sitting up on the couch. I slept like that for an hour and a half. Sheesh!
When I woke up, it was time for lunch. As I was cooking some pancakes, I noticed a robin outside the kitchen window. Going over to look, I saw that it was a TON of robins. I couldn’t believe the size of the group. They were eating the birdseed I had put out the day before. They were also eating the berries off my bushes. They covered my holly bush and sat on every windowsill. Cool.
I did go out yesterday. I went to the gym. Way to go, Brad! On my way out the door, I looked down to see that the robins had pooped a LOT. All over my house. The porch was covered, as was the threshold of the doorway. Not cool.
Did you put birdseed on your house? If so, avoid that the next time.
Ha! That is hilarious!!! It’s like a full-service rest stop for birds!
I shouldn’t laugh. I put out a bunch of birdseed yesterday and haven’t checked the threshold yet. Gulp.
That’s how Robins show their respect for a gracious host.
So, if conflicted about gratitude…poop, don’t burp?
So. How did you get it off your threshold then?
By the time I came back from exercising, I was too lazy to clean off the pieces that wouldn’t sweep away. I’m just stepping over it for now. It’s not going to get above freezing until tomorrow anyway.
I do have bleach left from the basement incident. After bleaching I’ll use my favorite wood product: OrangeGlo.
Really? You’ll bleach for bird poop outside? It’s nice to meet someone more paranoid than me. I? myself?
Birds freak me out. I guess I never got over seeing what they’re capable of when I was a little kid:
