Twenty-five Thousand Miles

I missed the rollover to tweny-five thousand on my odometer. It must’ve happened on Saturday on the way back from dropping Beth at the airport. I only noticed it yesterday after school. I was on my way to the gym. I’ve been off of exercise for two weeks because my back was hurting. But I really want to get back to it. I started back yesterday by doing the elliptical for thirty minutes. My back hurts a little this morning, but I’m going to keep at it. Maybe I just need to work through the pain. After all, I’m no girly man. Unless you’re talking about heights. Or getting stung. Or watching sports. Or drinking beer.

That stupid tire pressure light just won't go off.

“Work through the pain?” That kind of crazy thinking has caused a lot of trouble, y’know. I can’t think of any specific examples right now, but a better motto is : Just hang on and wait a while – maybe have a doughnut.

I’m totally with Lauren on the “work through the pain” thing. Does your back hurt during the exercise? Does it hurt more or less afterward? If it hurts during or if it hurts more after, then I think you should try a different exercise. Or go to physical therapy. Or both.

Have you tried swimming? I think it’s supposed to be good for back injuries…

However, I must respectfully disagree on the doughnut motto. I really don’t think that’s going to help your back pain at all. Although it may feel good going in!

Arron’s been going to a pain doc for his new back pain. There’s something they can do with RF to deaden a nerve for a few months to a few years. Luckily for him, just the tests have reset his nerve so he’s back to being pain free. For a while I honestly thought he was going to need surgery again.

Yes, Brad, you are right, you are no girly man.

You go Brad…push against the pain….
