Last night Beth took the student teachers out to dinner. Several of us joined them. We went to the Silver Spring Mining Company. They have the best crab pretzels ever. I ordered one of course. They had fried pickles on the appetizer menu. People were curious, so someone ordered some. It reminded several of us of those hot pickles you sometimes get on fast food burgers. I didn’t dislike them, but I wouldn’t order them.
My main course was rockfish stuffed with crab imperial. It was awesome. It was so rich and so filling I only ate half of it. The other half is waiting in my refrigerator. Mmm… For dessert, I had a mudslide. It was like a tasty alcoholic chocolate shake. Many other people got the rice pudding. I tasted it and liked it because it was more pudding than rice. Sometimes you get more rice than pudding and you almost want to add milk to it or something. That was not the case last night.
Beth and I finished the night by making a quick trip to IKEA, but we only had 45 minutes there, so we’ll make a second trip today.

Mom and I are so envious! It’s hard for us to miss out on good times. But we are very happy for you guys and the fun you are having. Aren’t the student teacher ladies a great bunch? We would have had no problem having them as your teachers when you were little. You’ll never be little again, especially if you keep having such meals as pictured. The Seward Family is fine without Momma but sure missing her. Daddy to the rescue!
Have a great and blest end-of-school-year everybody!!!
Fried pickles. Hmmmmm. Fried pickles. If I had a Fry Daddy, we might be in trouble around here. Still trying to wrap my head around fried pickles.
We own a Fry Baby. Mmm… mmmm…. mmmmmmm. Grease.
I’ve had thinly sliced fried pickles. Those are very good. I don’t think I would like spears as much.
Glad you reminded me, Brad – I, too, have a plastic container of stuffed rockfish and half-eatern sweet potato with brown sugar butter in the frig at home and no husband tonight to help eat it (he’s allergic to fish with scales anyway. Note to self: if he ever makes you very angry….). I can taste them already!! ‘Course, eating it all from an air-conditioned kitchen would be even more delectable, but alas the A/C guy doesn’t come to our home until Monday, by which time it will undoubtedly be cooler and we won’t care any more until mid-July…
–she who uses two fans at night now – one to suck the heat out of the brick home and the other to blow moving air over the bed. It’s all for the dog’s comfort really…
