House Toad

Lloyd and Lauren have a house toad. I’ve been seeing it all week. Its talent seems to be scaring the bejeebers out of people. Early last week, it jumped out of a yew and scared Beth. Midweek, it scared me when it jumped out of the peonies. Later, it jumped out of a flowerpot while I was watering it. I was telling Beth about the toad yesterday as it jumped out from behind the air conditioner. I took a picture.

What does a house toad do? Is it just for fun? Does it bring you a Pepsi when you ask for it? Does it kill rabbits so they don’t eat your plants? (It’s not doing a very good job, Lauren. Sorry about your lettuce.) Or could it be some kind of home security system?

Returning to the pot site, but not the same pot.

Maybe it's guarding Lauren's water barrel.

    I’m envious.

We used to have a house toad. But we have Bobbie.

    I miss that little toad.

  2. Lauren says:

Good old house toad. We actually have three. Have you killed two of them? I’ve been keeping them in case I have to make any potions.

  3. Karla says:

EWWWW!!!! I’m allergic to toads. Seriously. I break out with a nasty case of hives from them. I think I’m getting some now just looking at these pictures.

  4. Curt says:

I have always liked frogs/toads. But I hate holding them cause I feel like Lennie from “Of Mice and Men”. “Why’d you get killed. George is never going to let me tend my wabbits if he finds out you got killed.”

  5. Carol says:

I’d feel TOAD-ally safe with a house toad security system. I can see the ads now: “WART’cha gonna do when trouble comes a’knockin’? Invest in the 2009 model Attack Toad – guaranteed to take on any demon/turn on a dime/any other “toad” acronym you can make up here.”

[Sorry…we finally had a warmer day here and I think it got to me…]
