Yesterday I think I proved that I don’t gratuitously kill rodents rabbits.
I had just left for school in the morning, and saw something moving in the street. It was a rabbit. It was running toward my truck instead of away from it. As I got closer, I figured it would dash to the right or left, but it didn’t. It was coming straight for me. I did something that surprised me: I braked.
I’m assuming the rabbit got away unharmed. I didn’t hear any thumps or see its broken body in the street. Am I a softy? Maybe I just didn’t want rabbit blood on the undercarriage of my truck because it could cause rust or something.

Maybe you’re the rabbit Ghost Whisperer, and you helped that rabbit go into the light. (Or maybe it was just confused by your headlights.)
And why are there stop signs on both sides of that street?
That is a very good question. Could it be because it’s a two-lane one-way?
That gets my vote. There are cars parked facing the same direction on either side of the street.
Maybe they really want to make sure people stop. Because if they don’t, there’s a house in the way.
…Or maybe they really want to cut down on roll-throughs. That intersection has three ways to approach it, and two ways to leave it.
That last sentence should be read by the movie voice-over guy, with a really big pause at the comma.
Or maybe killing by driving over the poor little thing wouldn’t have been as thrilling for an old hands-on killer such as yourself.
