Ever since I first visited him, I’ve wanted to go back to the massage therapist I went to on my birthday. I have hesitated because either my back didn’t hurt or I didn’t remember to call. I finally decided to just do it. I made an appointment. It was last night.
It was really good. It wasn’t like any massage I’ve had before. I would describe it as not so much a back rub. It was more like he was pressing. He used the heels of his hands and his elbows a lot. At one point, he found a place in my lower back that made both sciatic nerves light up with pain. It was like my back and legs were on fire, then blissfully cool. I fought against going to sleep, but I think I may have dozed for part of it. Dang. That seems like a waste of money.
When it was all over, my chest felt weird. It was like I had taken a decongestant or something. I went home, relaxed a little, and went to bed. It was a really good night’s sleep. I woke up thinking my alarm was about to go off, and it was only 1:30. I love it when that happens.

Aaahhhh….
I need some ocean noises…
That’s cool how his curtains are different colors – it looks very peaceful.
Um, your chest didn’t feel weird in an “I’m about to have a cardiac event” way, right?
Yeah, I love it when the 1:30 thing happens, too, because it means I can still get back to sleep. Unless, of course, I cant (which is rare).
Ahhhhh….is right! And was this just a back massage or did he do arms/legs/feet too? And what determines the kind of massage he gives you? I mean why was this one different?
I have a gift card I still need to use & I can’t decide what kind of massage to get. I might just go for the 30 min foot one.
It was just my back. We talked about it before it happened. He asked me what I wanted. I talked about my sciatic problem and about how stress settles between my shoulder blades. That’s the stuff he worked on.
I am not a noodle today. It was more like a physical therapy session than a spa visit. I like it that way.
PS Are you a walking noodle today?
So let’s recap here:
* Your back didn’t hurt when you went to the massage – only during the massage itself…which you paid for…and enjoyed, apparently.
* You call a “really good night’s sleep” waking up 4-ish hours before you have to on a work morning.
* All this joy took place on a single hospital bed in a room decorated ala “1001 Nights”…but with ocean noises…which seems odd, since that tale took place in a desert, I do believe.
Just checking!
