My old grading pen ran out. It actually lasted a good long time. I used it last year fourth quarter and all first quarter this year. I love it when I have to choose a new grading pen color. It’s like Christmas and my birthday at the same time! I still have a ton of colors to choose from in a set of pens I bought last year. After looking them over, I chose green. But it’s an interesting color green. Sort of like a dark lime green or a light olive green. But it’s a little hard to read. After using it for a while, I’ll have to assess my satisfaction.

Well, first of all, great day to show it in your pocket – it looks fabulous by that tie!
Second, do you just buy one pen and use it until it runs out, or a pack of the same kind? I can’t imagine keeping track of one pen for months.
I was thinking of grading just the other day. We were getting ready to send out report cards, and our principal was all excited and sending out emails to get things just right and make sure everything was ready. It was a big production, and we had to postpone it for a day because our art teacher (God bless art teachers) couldn’t figure out how to enter grades.
Then it occurred to me what an absolute non-event grade cards are to our students. They were a really big deal when we were in school. Four times a year your parents knew how poorly you were doing in school. It was exciting to bring them home or get them in the mail.
I asked my students about it, and they they confirmed what I expected, “We can check them every day.”
Non-event.
It costs us about $1000.00 a year to send out report cards. I wonder how many more years we will do it?
Do you mail out paper copies of the report card?
Yeah, and I guess it costs something like $180 in postage.
I’m with ya’ there, buddy. Take ownership for your learning on a daily basis and then the rest of us don’t have to scramble 4-8 times/year. As much as we’ve pushed technology, though, if even one family claims to not have access to the Internet/e-mail/Edline/whatever, I think we’re doomed…
Your swamp colored pen is just perfect for this time of year…Happy Grading! cackle cackle cackle
