While working at school yesterday morning, I tried to use a pair of scissors and found them to be quite stiff. They were almost unusable. I didn’t have any oil to lubricate them with, so I thought they might have to go into storage until I remembered to bring oil to school (which would probably be a very long time indeed). But before I put them into permanent storage, I thought I might just try hand sanitizer. I have previously used it to great effect for cleaning ink off desks. Why not try scissors?
It was amazing! The sanitizer cleaned out whatever gunk was in the scissor hinge, plus there was some kind of moisturizer that acted as a fine lubricant. Is there anything hand sanitizer can’t do?
Hand sanitizer also makes a delicious dessert topping!
I’ve heard you can make hand sanitizer out of rubbing alcohol and aloe vera gel. I wonder if that’s what the regular stuff is?
Your home-made version of sanitizer would be toxic if eaten. Grain alcohol would be a better choice.
Good work, that should cut right through the swine flu.
It also works as a
mild sedativehand cleaner for children.Yay for hand sanitizer!
Very resourceful Brad! I got nothing, but here’s a picture:

And in a pinch, a squirt of Pam will take care of a squeaky door. 🙂
…and WD-40 on arthritis elbows is supposed to relieve the pain, too.
