Happy Birthday, Lloyd!
Today we are predicted to receive a LOT of snow. Last night we already got a couple of inches. Through today and tomorrow, the current prediction is for a total of about two feet. I’m very excited for the snow. We have only had a dusting so far this season, so a nice, heavy snowfall should be fun. I had planned to go out for a little shopping this weekend, but now I’m thinking I might just stay in.
Here’s what it looked like at 7am. I’ll try to post some updates throughout the day if I’m not too busy playing Xbox.

I went out to shovel the sidewalk at 11am. The snow is fluffy, but a little wet. It stuck to the shovel. By the time I was done, there was already a light covering of snow on the sidewalk again, but at least it’ll be easier to clear off later. I was admiring my work from my porch when I saw a guy go past on skis.

It’s almost 2pm and I just woke up from a post-lunch coma on the couch. I stumbled outside for an update picture. The sidewalk doesn’t look shoveled any more. Maybe I’ll go out and shovel it again after some Xbox time. The current prediction for total snowfall is 26 inches.

4pm update: I filled the bird feeder this morning. It’s hard for the birds to find food when everything is covered with snow. Usually the sparrows pick the seed from the feeder, and all the bigger birds collect it off the ground. Today, there aren’t too many birds on the ground. One turtledove was huddled on the fence watching the sparrows eat from the feeder. Poor turtledove.

At 5:30pm, I went out to shovel the sidewalk again. I’ve gone a little stir crazy. Usually on days off I make at least one trip to the store or I go out to eat or something. Being in the house all day wasn’t as fun as I thought, so shoveling was nice.

I’m really craving meat. The only meat in the house is a frozen turkey. I can’t wait for that. Wait! Do I have some Spam? I think I might…
If you get as much as we did, you won’t have school again until January.
This would even be enough snow to close Towson U.!!
Even still I’m looking forward to a nice snow day…and with all this snow I can pretend I live in Seward…although even though my front door is unlocked I doubt anyone will stop by to leave a giant cool cutout or paint my walls & hang curtains.
Happy Birthday Lloyd!!
Ah, Xbox and a snowstorm – sounds like a Charles Dickens story….
I look forward to the photo updates!
By the way, did you play with this? http://www.tomscott.com/weather/starwars/
Ha! Skis!!
I’ve decided to comment a whole bunch today.
I take back every unkind animal hating comment I’ve made about you….how thoughtful of you to think of the birds on a day such as this!
My afternoon was supposed to be spent wrapping presents…but I spent it asleep…from 2-5. I guess the older you get, the longer the comas last.
Cross-country skiing down the street – THAT picture sure brought back memories of years spent in Chicago and a roommate from Minnesota who often got to work (7 blocks straight east of our home) that way. Good times.
Our snow shovel lost its set screw that connects the handle to the flat part that does all the scooping. Now it tends to spin around when it’s full of snow; you can imagine how effective that is. I tried drying it off and applying duct tape – only limited success. Hoping it holds up enough once the “blizzard” stops to help us dig around our cars so we can get to Home Depot for another shovel……..what? The may be <i?out of snow shovels, you say?? Okay, soup spoons for everyone – start digging!
Holy catfish! Have they canceled church already?
Beth, now you struck a nerve. I (hereafter known as The Nag) kept suggesting strongly to the shepherd of our congregation (hereafter known as The Husband) to “call it in!”, “pull the plug!” etc. The Husband wanted to be sure other Lutheran churches were also closing, not just the Church of What’s Happening Now up the street, etc. It took a few (read “many”) hours and much trained, professional nagging (I have a degree…or so he would offer) to convince The Husband this would be an appropriate response to a blizzard the day before scheduled worship. [I mean, even our RC neighbors proclaimed amnesty for missed masses this weekend!] Now, were this all happening in Nebraska, I’m sure things would be quite different. The elderly would still shuffle off to church, undoubtedly in their Bermuda shorts…
Indeed.
Really? You’re stir crazy? That is so weird.
