I enjoy having interesting things out in the open and waiting for someone to see them. It’s like having secrets that someone else can discover.
I really like using an intact piece of chalk. It bothers me a lot when chalk breaks and I’m forced to use tiny nubs when writing on the board. When kids use my chalk, it breaks. Even when I ban them from using it, it somehow gets broken. I’m trying something different now: I’m hiding it in plain sight. A couple of kids have seen me take it from its hiding place, but they never touch it. And it has remained unbroken for over two weeks now. Cool!

Right next to the chalk is my other secret: when assigning the current memory passages, I decided to take all of them from Psalms. All three grades are in the same book. I’m thinking that if I were a student, I’d notice it right away. Especially since they’re all written on the board next to each other. But no one has said anything yet.

Wow – that is a well camouflaged piece of chalk. I had to look at the photo for a bit to see it. Well hidden, sir.
Cool font for your assignment papers, too.
I choose a new font each year for all my room signs. The font of the year for 09-10 is Tempus Sans ITC.
One year an army man turned up in the room and classes would hide it somewhere in the room. The person who found it got to hide it for the next class. One year it was an elephant.
I’m just glad you didn’t write Psalms. Because then I would have to kill you.
Interesting. I guess I never consciously think about that. The book is “Psalms” because there are 150 of them, but when you talk about a specific chapter, it’s “psalm”, because it’s just one.
And that’s a peeve for you? I’ll file that away for later.
Hiding in plain sight is the best! I did that once in the 5th grade. I belonged to some ‘Summer Fun’ group that went to a community pool one day. The group was only scheduled to be there for like 2 hours. None of the kids wanted to leave so a bunch of them hid in dressing rooms, bathrooms, etc. They were all found. But not me & my friend. We laid our towels down real close to some family right there on the big open lawn. Once ‘the group’ was gone…we swam for the rest of the afternoon.
