Awesome Cake Recipe

I was clicking through StumbleUpon.com the other day and came across THIS recipe for cake that looked amazing. It uses any kind of box cake and any kind of ice cream to make a moist and flavorful cake. Yum! Last night I had a Dinners for Eight meal with people from my church. They asked me to bring dessert. It was the perfect opportunity!

I decided to go with dark chocolate cake and Cherry Garcia ice cream. Mmm… It would taste like chocolate covered cherries…

I got the extra cherries for garnish.

It mixed and baked without a hitch. I was a little nervous at the end because my cake didn’t puff up as much as the cake at Omnomicon. It was fine though. I dusted the top with powdered sugar and headed for the party.

The dinner was great. And when it came time to eat the cake, it didn’t disappoint. It was moist and delicious. I couldn’t taste the cherries as much as I had hoped. Next time I will use a lighter chocolate, or I will just dump a bunch of extra cherries into the batter. Or I’ll do a completely different combination of flavors, because why not? What a cool recipe!

I liked the tablecloth.

Holy cow that looks amazing!!! That chocolate is the right kind of chocolate cake – deep and dark. The powdered sugar and cherry garnish make it look quite professional, I must say.

Did it make a noise when you cut into it? 🙂

I didn’t get to cut it. The hostess did. I saw her starting to dish up the cake and ran into the kitchen to add the cherries. By then, she had made all the cuts.

Cherry Garcia was voted, by me, just a few minutes ago, as the best ice cream name ever.

That sounds & looks amazing!! (btw: Did you know cake is one of my favorite things & chocolate is the other?)

I was going to make Warm Brownie Hot Fudge Sundaes for dessert tonight…but now I feel I must try this!

I also like Malted Milk Ball Ice Cream Pie, which I haven’t made in a while. Vanilla ice cream, Cool Whip & crushed malted balls…refrozen, then drizzled with hot fudge. Yum! Oh forget the meal…I’m just having a smorgesboard of desserts tonight!

    Way to go Brad!

That. Looks. Amazing. Next faculty pot luck – you’re on for that, ok? And one can never have more chocolate than necessary, can one? Stick with the dark chocolate and add more cherries if you must. Way to go, Chef Brad!
