Neighborhood Friends

Max will frequently be sitting in the downstairs window ledge, then suddenly jump down and run like a madman to the windows in the living room. He is almost always running to look at one of the two cats that frequent my yard. There’s Black-And-White Cat, and Orange Cat. My neighbor feeds them both and thinks Black-And-White Cat has an owner, because it’s well fed and kind of tame. Orange Cat, on the other hand, seems to be an owner-less, wild cat.

The two outside cats have been around for more than a year now, and I haven’t seen a single rat in my yard since their appearance. Come to think of it, I haven’t seen any rabbits either. Yay, outside cats!

Anyway, back to Max. Yesterday he made a mad dash for the living room window, then stayed there for a long, long time. His tail was swishing like crazy and he scratched at the window every once in a while. I finally got up to see what he was looking at.

Hello.

Ha! Orange Cat was right up against the window. He sat for a while, then lay down for a while. He drove Max crazy. It was funny.

Scratch, scratch, scratch...

Do you think Orange Cat thinks Max is another cat, or some futuristic t.v. show?

  2. Orange Cat says:

Dude, you’ve got one seriously big rat in your house.

Awwwwww! …but why am I thinking of the Boy in the Plastic Bubble now? He could only have friends through his bubble – Max can only have them through the window. Sad really. ‘Course, if he and Organge or Black-and-White Cat ever got up close and purr-sonal, Max would experience fur…and there would be questions for Brad to answer, I wager.

‘…experience fur’–HA! Hopefully Brad has some books on Feline Adolescence Development. (speaking of spelling, adolescence doesn’t look right???)
