Yesterday was a cool day, so it would have been a great day to work in the garden, but it was also rainy. Dang. Actually, it was mostly just rainy in the morning, but that’s my good work time. Once it hits noon, I don’t seem to get much else done. I straightened up some stuff in the house, but I felt like I wasted the day.
I took a little time to walk the garden. I have my first lotus flower of the season! It’s my old lotus, and I’m not particularly fond of the petal form, but I do really like the color. I won’t be replacing this lotus just yet.
And since a month has passed since I did a video of the garden in May, here’s what I like about my garden in June.
I’m thinking these will be great videos for me to watch in the dead of winter. They’ll cheer me up.
I love that view that glimpses into your neighbor’s yard – it’s so very, very different from yours!
I like these tours of your garden! You have picked some delightfully strange plants – it’s like the children’s museums of gardens.
I forgot to say how nice it was to hear Denis play the piano. Go, Denis!
(Also, I put an extra ‘s’ on museum. I’m an idiot.)
I like the bird soundtrack. Oh, and the garden was nice too.
I too LOVE the videos!!! I can live vicariously thru them.
First, I laughed at ‘the foot’ making an appearance with the giant hostas. And how European to have ‘ruins’ in your garden (I laughed when you said that too).
Second, I can’t believe how much the banana tree has grown in one month. I love that thing!
Third, I love the water lily. Could I have one of those living in just a bowl of water on my deck? I’m serious.
Fourth, it’s so hard to believe that someone who would say ‘Hi’ to the fish in such a nice fishy voice would be the kind of someone who’s about to murder a handful of them. I’m just saying….
Yes, you definitely could have a water lily in a tub on your deck. Once you get things set up, I’ll give you a clump off of my plants. I have to divide them every other year.
And we don’t say ‘murder’. We say ‘cull’. It sounds nicer and doesn’t scare the neighbors.
Oh, and I also have some banana tree babies potted up if you want them. On years that I don’t pot extras up, all kinds of people ask me for them. On years I DO pot extras, they sit and sit.
Set things up??? I was going to put a bowl of water on the deck.
I would LOVE to have a water lily & a banana tree!! LOVE. But where would you suggest I plant the banana tree at my house?
Could I plant it on my hill,
Can I plant it near my still,
Could I plant it during the night,
Can I plant it while flying a kite.
So peaceful and tranquil. Thank you, Mr. Rogers.
I like saying Deutzia…I sit at my desk & just say it…like a command.
It sounds kind of like a magic word from the world of Harry Potter, doesn’t it?
