Welcome to Brad's online memory archives.

Number One

I haven’t posted about my haircuts in a long time. They’ve been sort of regular and sort of unremarkable. I always get a clipper cut: #1 on the sides and back, #3 on the top, no corners (I don’t want a flat top).

Yesterday as I got my hair cut, I decided to try something new. I decided to try #1 all over. Shoot, I’d be able to cut my own hair if that worked out. So here it is-

BEFORE:
Kind of shaggy...

AFTER:
AAHHH!

AAAHHHH! I don’t like it! With longer hair on top, I’ve been able to pretend it’s a little thicker. But now I don’t have any hair on the top of my head at all! AAHHH!

I think I won’t be leaving the house for a few days.

Now, now – every haircut takes time to get used to. You know what they say:

    Think happy thoughts,
    let your hair be,
    and soon it’ll grow
    to clipper length 3.

So – go get busy with those thoughts! No time to fence, B!

VE-ry NI-ce, Miss Lauren! Not only is it encouraging and uplifting – you got rhythm! Could it have anything to do with the youths with whom you work every day?

Are you sure that’s not Cal Ripkin’s head?

  3. Beth

Erm. Yes. Number 3. That’s what I would pick, too.

  4. Lloyd

    Oh, and pickup some sunscreen.

I like it! I think that the less hair you have the shorter it should be. Just think of all the cute guys with really short hair! Andre Agassi, Cuba Gooding Jr., Jason Statham, Taye Diggs, Kelly Slater, and Luke Wilson.

It looks fine & no corners! Not to mention you look just like Max now!

HA! (He hides his tail very well, don’t you think, Peggy?)

While I was going to post something snide like "why did you post a photo of the top of your Dad's head where your own should be?", because I love you I have changed my mind and now wish to reflect on the bulging blood vessel that seems to connect your scalp to your forehead. When dealing with which age group or section would we expect that to be most prominent, and will that still be visible if your locks return to clipper #3 length, I wonder?

That new ‘do makes the vein in your forehead show up nicely. I say keep using #1. 😉

Thanks for the kind words and the humor, everybody. I actually did go to the mall today, just to see if people would look at me like I was some kind of freak. No one did. I can live with #1. I don’t know I’ll do it again or not yet, but I’m with Kiwe: the less hair, the shorter. I won’t have to decide until two weeks from now, when my hair will be twice as long as it is now.

It looks good buddy. Relax. Less is more when it comes to our hairlines. Wear it with pride.

Always nice to try, buddy. Tried the all over shaved look already? Would work on you!
