Peachy Chicken

When I was at Five Guys burger place the other day, I was looking at the bottle of Heinz malt vinegar. There was a recipe on the label that sounded intriguing. It was for Peachy Chicken. I took a picture of the label thinking I might read the recipe from the picture, but it’s easily found all over the internet. One person even jokes about how there is no other recipe on the Heinz malt vinegar bottles. It’s all Peachy Chicken.

I made the recipe last night. It’s fun to cook every once in a while, but it sure is expensive. The ingredients for this dish were in the neighborhood of $25. I could have eaten at a fancy restaurant for that kind of money.

Here it is:
Yes, it actually has peaches in it.

It was along the lines of sweet and sour chicken. It could have used something green like broccoli or snow peas. I liked it well enough, but I probably won’t make it again.

I ate toasted marshmallows for dessert. Yum! But it was freakishly hot last night, as it has been for the last couple of weeks. Sheesh! I sure picked a fine time to build a firepit.

I burnt garden clippings and tree prunings. I need some proper wood.

I almost cried at the sight of that beautiful fire. It’s like the light in the fire pit’s eye. (That was supposed to sound poetic, but now that I look at the photo again, it kind of looks like the Eye of Sauron or whoever.)

Three more words: Peachy Chicken? Bleh.

You know that you can reuse the portions of your purchase that are left over after the Peachy Chicken for future cooking projects, right?

I’m with Lauren– Peachy Chicken doesn’t sound very peachy to me…but despite that, your picture makes it look good. And I’m with Lloyd–hehe.

Your fire looks fabulous!!!!!! (covet, covet, covet) I just may make that picture my computer background. Now, do you suppose if I send Lauren a round trip ticket…she’ll come out and cook me some perfect marshmallows?

…but did you make your peachy chicken over the open flames of a fire pit? Bet it would have been better that way! Just a thought for the future…not that you plan to ever make that again…

Actually, that fire says “Clean out the corner of the backyard, Carol!” to me. Mind if I load up the back of the Subaru and come over with twigs, weeds, and the like sometime soon? I’ll let you do all the burning and poking you want to. Honest.

…..OK….how ’bout if I also bring graham crackers, Hershey’s milk chocolate, and marshmallows? There must be some decent sticks in all that …
