Cheesecake

Yesterday in Eighth Grade Religion, we did the chapter on Luke. Whenever I look at this chapter with the students, I ask them to remember the day. Sometime in Fourth Quarter, we return to the Luke chapter and review some of the questions in it. I ask the students if they will remember. Some of them always say yes, so I give them a Secret Word to remember: Cheesecake.

They think that when we get to Fourth Quarter I’m going to ask them for the Secret Word, but what I’m really going to ask them is if they remember what tie I wore. I even tried to help them out yesterday: I fiddled with my tie a lot while talking with them. Will they remember? I don’t know. In past years, I wore kind of crazy ties to help them out, but last night was Parents to School Night, so I had to wear a nice tie. I think it ended up being nondescript enough that they might not remember at all.

I’m a wondering if even I might not remember, so I’m recording it in the memory archive:

I like this tie. I have it in blue and gray (shown here) and in red and tan.

When I first read your title I thought it said ‘Cheapskate’.

I like everything about your tie, except that it has a u in Saviour. That’s a little too ‘across-the-pond’ for me.

Is this lesson to show why there are different viewpoints in the Gospels?

That kind of lesson would be interesting, but no. It’s about the Gospel being explained with a medical metaphor. The Luke chapter does it, then several months later this other chapter does it. I like to point out that we’ve talked about the metaphor before.

    Tricksey Teacher!

So in the past, have the kids remembered what tie you were wearing? That cracks me up when I think about you doing that…HA!

btw: Help me out…what’s the medical metaphor?
