Welcome to Brad's online memory archives.

Balm Emergency

I used lip balm for the first time of the season yesterday. It’s the same thing every year – I will be fine, fine, fine, then BAM – my lips are dry and cracking. There doesn’t seem to be a middle ground.

Anyway, my balm of choice is Blistex Complete Moisture. I like it because it doesn’t feel like I’ve coated my lips with wax. But I’m wearing an old jacket this year, and there isn’t any Blistex in the pocket. I was at school when the lip emergency happened. In desperation I looked in my desk drawer, hoping there might be some Blistex:

Do you see it?

There was! Yay! I used it again and again.

Out of curiosity, I looked in the memory archive to see what time of year I had used balm in the past. I’m much earlier this year. And here’s the really interesting part: both of the previous entries were on the same date… January 8!

I love the picture of your desk drawer! It’s like an I-Spy book!

    I spy a finger, some Post-It’s, a light,
a clippers, a lip balm, and ‘Tennessee’ that writes.

A spoon you can see through, a claw that is fun,
“Mr. Royuk” and a square blue one.

Do you use the single die to determine the fate of your students?

It’s funny because I use that drawer all the time, but I hardly ever actually look at what’s in there. There could be a family of elves living in my desk and I would never know it.

HA! That made me laugh out loud!

…so…you don’t actually know that there aren’t a family of elves living in your desk drawer then, right? [They may have recently gotten a gig doing Best Buy Christmas commercials or something. You should be getting some sort of cut from that, don’t you think?]

I’ve been making myself crazy trying to locate all the items on Lauren’s list, too. WHERE’S THE BLESSED BLISTEX even? It’s too late for me to play this family fun game – I can’t see straight any more. Off to bed…maybe tomorrow.
