New Couch

So couches are probably supposed to last more than four years, but my IKEA couch was really raggedy. I think it wasn’t meant for all the hard use I gave it during marathon TV watching. It was in such bad condition that I’ve been looking in the free section of Craigslist for a new one. There are surprisingly good ones there. Every once in a while, there’s someone who is giving away something that they should be selling. Those are the ones that caught my eye. But I never emailed the people fast enough. I never got one.

A couple of weeks ago, there were two couches in one week. I emailed both people. When I emailed them, I also sent the link to Denis. He would be sitting on the new couch as well, so I thought it would be fun to show him. His replies were a little hesitant. He wasn’t such a big fan of used couches, especially with all the nature shows and medical stuff he watches on TV.

Last Friday night, he asked if I would go to Value City Furniture with him, just to look. After looking a little bit, he announced that he would be buying a new couch. (I think this way, he wouldn’t have to worry about germs and bedbugs). It was fine with me… I just wanted something better than my old one. This is WAY better:

It's so comfortable!

It reclines! It’s wonderfully comfortable, and so much better than the old one. Good pick, Denis. I’m a little worried about Max’s claws. Fortunately, he doesn’t like the feel of the leather. He won’t jump on the couch unless there’s a blanket on it. I hope that continues…

Excellent!! And with the little side tables for snacks & drinks you’re set for life!

(I see your coffee table has made it’s way back)

gasp A couch with two recliners!! That is my dream couch!!!! I am so jealous, and yet so happy for you. Yay for Denis the Couch Hero!!!

Is that a pommel horse in the corner?!?

Oh, and I second the bedbug fear. I went looking for one of those rocking video chairs (so I could price them) at a place in Lincoln that sells used furniture and I practically ran through the place.

Hey good lookin! Couch, that is!
I understand the Max thing … I never thought I would like leather, but one of the things I love most about our leather seating is that our cat doesn’t like it, especially since our cat has hair. However, if a coat, a blanket, a piece of clothing, or even a pile of ungraded papers is on the couch, Maggie finds a way to make it her bed. The few claw marks are results of her using it as a leaping point to the curtain rod above it should a bird venture past the window.
Leather … very comfy, very durable, and it doesn’t hold cat hair!
    Yay Denis!

AMEN! Decades ago a super couch was one that unfolded into a bed – now, the SuperCouch is the recliner-sofa. We’ve seen some at LaZBoy (the “You Want HOW Much For That Piece of Furniture?!?!” Store) that have fold down tables between sitting sections with flat surfaces for snack bowls and depressed circles to hold beverage cups or glasses – definitely the perfect environment for someone who, say, retires and never wants to leave the living room unless it’s to eat a meal or use the restroom. (Marketing sugestion: somebody could have Spot-a-pots and bar-sized refrigerators with microwaves on top built into these units and solve every possible problem, no? Get that patent now, Brad – make your fortune and you CAN retire and enjoy your new sofa 24/7!)

    Nicely done, gentlemen!
