Hurricane Days Off

I didn’t have school yesterday. I don’t have it today. You might think this would be enjoyable, but it’s all about the timing. Sunday night I was anxiously saying to myself: Tomorrow I have my first day of school! And then it didn’t happen. Then yesterday I was saying to myself: NOW tomorrow I have my first day of school! And then it didn’t happen. The anticipation is killing me.

Because of the anticipation/excitement of the first day approaching, I am terribly distracted during the day. I have the gift of extra time, but I can’t seem to use it. There are a ton of Projects I could do at home, but I can’t focus long enough to do any of them.

So yesterday I got in my truck and drove around doing errands. I got a few things for my house, and a few things for my classroom. It was nice to be out and about. But it showed me the extent of the power outages around town. Apparently, I was very lucky to get my power back so quickly. Some people continue to be without power. The scariest part of the day was how many stoplights were not working… and how many people didn’t know how to treat intersections like that. Yikes!

Who goes next? Who goes next? AAHH! Watch out!

Yikes. Remembering Maryland drivers, that would be scary. Glad you made it through without getting all smashed up.

Sorry your anticipation is being dragged out so long. You know you’re also battling hundreds of children’s prayers & wishes: “Just one more day of summer!”

Had the same intersection fear Sunday getting to church. One dude just drove through the corner of Old Harford and Putty Hill (where the light was out) as if he had a green light, blinders on and full steam ahead. Yikes already!!

I’m a’thinkin’ we might just be closed down all week, based on the BGE power restoration schedule they keep circulating, so take that tranquilizer now, Brad, to avoid more ADS (Anticipation Disappointment Syndrome). If you get bored, they’re beginning the actual House Foundation Excavation today (yesterday was Shrubbery-Removal and Humongous Sump Installation Day) – free admission for spectators, just limited on-street parking. Better bring your own snacks, too.

I had a much easier drive into work today. I only had to turn around once. Yay! And my best simple pleasure this morning: All traffic lights working!!

Kudos & God bless the workers who are cleaning up all the mess & getting power back to everyone….and for dealing with whiners like me on top of it all.

Had a meeting this morning at my new place of employment with my new boss (my brother) … and encountered 3 detours just getting there! Jerusalem Road looked like a war zone – trees down, wires hanging low, just plain awful! Forget the scenic back roads for a while – interstate 95 will just have to do.
