The eighth graders have chosen their verse for the year. It’s one that was used three years ago. As we were going through the selection process, I almost told them the verse had been used before, but there didn’t seem to be any good reason. The verse they selected is Philippians 4:13 – I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength. I like the New King James version, because it says “Christ” instead of just “Him”.
After the kids select a verse, I always make a bulletin board. It was particularly challenging this year, because I’ve already done this verse, but I was able to come up with something. I stayed after school and put it up yesterday.
When I think “strength”, I think Superman. This time, instead of using Superman’s silhouette, I used his emblem and his colors. I think it turned out okay. The letters aren’t completely centered, but that just adds to its charm, right?
I love the shield! LOVE!
And I don’t know what you mean about the letters….they looked centered to me.
Great job!
Awesome and clever as always!
As I waited in my car out front of school in the rain yesterday, I wondered why your car was there so late on a Friday. Now I know.
Terrific! Do you trace and cut out your letters by hand, or are they die-cut? I like the blue-on-blue, too. The jaggedy-ness makes the lower letters look very intentional.
We have a die-cut machine. I love it, but both our sets of letters are REALLY BIG. I’d investigate/request getting a new set, but I’ve heard that they cost hundreds and hundreds of dollars. Ack!
Beautiful again this year, sir – our 8th graders are so blessed to have you in charge of this phase of their year instead of, say, me. Any bulletin board I might come up with would more likely be black-and-white or use stick figures, be all literal instead of loaded with symbols and metaphors and other literary terms like that…aka “BO-ring”. You really have a gift there, sir. Again I ask, “When will this book of photos and stories about your bulletin board creations be published?”
I’m late… but I like it! You know how I feel about bulletin boards. And things being off center…
