B Day

Yesterday I had a few things to go shopping for. Oddly enough, they all started with the letter “B”:

BIRDSEED – I haven’t been as regular, but I continue to feed the sparrows and turtledoves. And rats.
BEETHOVEN – I have been having what feels like a physical craving to listen to Beethoven. I got his 3rd and 9th symphonies.
BIBLE STUDY BOOK – I will soon be hosting a Bible study at my house every other Thursday. I needed some materials. The book I got is by Max Lucado.
BATTERIES – The radio in my shower needed new ones.
BFACE LOTION – Okay, that doesn’t start with “B”, but the stuff I was using has been discontinued again. I’m trying something new by Clinique.
BULBS – My supply of light bulbs was out. Gotta stock up with incandescents while they’re still legal. Hey, maybe I should fill the basement with them and sell them on Ebay once they’re no longer sold. I could be set for life!

B things.

I ended my B day yesterday by going to a B-Day celebration. One year ago, I attended Xander’s first birthday. Last night was his second. It was really fun. There were lots of two and three year old Filipino children there. They were incredibly cute. There was much tasty Filipino food again, and a cake decorated with fondant again. I left before the cake was cut so I didn’t get to taste any, but the various squishy-sweet rice desserts were enough to satisfy.

He would run around for a while, then stop and stare at the cake.

Toot! Toot! Wait... does Thomas even say that? I guess I don't really know Thomas the Train at all...

Thomas speaks with a strange British accent…and he’s not really a cartoon. He’s more like that weird neighborhood that Mr. Rogers always visited. Strange, I say.

And Happy Birthday Xander!! :D Birthday parties are fun.

You must have the curse we have: once you enjoy a brand-named product, fragrance, or lotion – sure ’nuff, they stop making that one! It makes me growl when I’m in Bath & Body Works. I have a cabinet full of mis-matches now as a result. You know: Fragrance ! in hand lotion and bath gel but not in body lotion or foaming hand soap. I must smell like a perfume tester at the mall when I go out as a result. Anywho, hope the new face lotion is a winner and they have no choice but to continue to make it forever. Just for you!
(By the way…you might want to type in smaller font when you mention that BaptistpreacherauthorIliketoo as a source of your next Bible Study…just sayin’…)

Hehe… I know Max Lucado isn’t approved by everyone. I hope no one reports me for heresy. I think Max is a good writer though. And I don’t want to throw out the baby with the bathwater. His language is winsome, which is of value in a group Bible study.

I like running across things we can chew on a little bit. I think it’s healthy to read something in a Bible study book and say: “I don’t completely agree with that.”

That cake is amazing! (Heh, I accidentally typed ‘amazong’, which I declare is my new favorite word.) I’m assuming they had it done at a bakery, yes?

By the way, I’m pretty sure that if you’re having physical cravings to listen to a dead composer, you are definitely being haunted by him. So say ‘hey’ to Beethoven for me. (His birthday is right before mine – please tell him.)

I know just what you mean about Beethoven. I just had the exact same thing happen. Except for me it was Conti.

Translation: He listened to SEVERAL different versions of the Rocky theme song while I gritted my teeth and shook my fist.
