Bathroom Door Face

Bathroom Door Face is frowning at you.

So frowny.

This frowny face is right at hand level on the way out the men’s bathroom door by our cafeteria at school. Every time I come out, I feel like it’s judging me for not washing my hands long enough. I don’t sing “Happy Birthday” or count the alphabet – I put soap on and wash it off and leave. If the door wants to frown at me for that, it can frown away. It’s not the boss of me.

Great. Now my anthropomorphic soul is coming up with other reasons for why the door might be upset, and I am feeling sorry for a door!!

“Maybe he’s sad because the toilets tease him all day.”
“Maybe he’s lonely and wants to look out into the cafeteria.”
“Maybe he’s disillusioned with his life because he always wanted to be a French door.”

I need to seek professional help.

Hehe… I wrote and rejected three picture captions before settling on “So frowny.” The first ones I wrote were too sad.

Do you think anthropomorphizing things is one of the hazards of being an early childhood teacher?

…disillusioned with his life because he always wanted to be a French door.ā€ HA!!

Iā€™m an anthropomorphizer too. Especially when I see just one shoe on a highway or busy street. Does anthropomorphizing include animals too? Because then I’m off the charts.

Well, I guess Frowny Mr. Bathroom Door is less creepy than a Smiley Mr. Bathroom Door would be.

I’ve been anthropomorphizing forEHver, and you wouldn’t want me to be in a room too long with pre-schoolers (jibblie). I believe the ability to put human characteristics onto inanimate objects, animals, etc., is a sign of creativity and a healthy imagination. Sure, it can work for you in that insanity plea some day, too… šŸ˜‰

    Yes. I’m an anthropomorphizer.

Just ask the M&M I dropped in downtown Knoxville, Tennessee as a child that Mom wouldn’t let me pick up.

      Great. Thanks. šŸ™
