Cheese Powder Taste Trial 2

I’ve still been keeping an eye out for the kind of cheese powder that you find on cheese crackers. I really like just licking the crackers, and I wondered if I could find powder by itself. I may have found something at Target. It’s supposed to be used on popcorn. I got some. I decided that I should get it to my mouth on something that approximates the feel of a cracker. I used the wide end of a pair of disposable chopsticks that I didn’t pull apart. The roughness of the wood was sort of like a cracker.

They only had the one flavor.

The powder is cheesy and very salty. Very salty. It tastes good, but something is missing. If I had to guess, I would say it’s some delicious chemical like MSG or something. Or maybe the fat from the crackers soaks into the powder and makes it taste different. Maybe I should try adding some bacon grease or something. Another drawback to eating this cheese powder was that its saltiness started to make my tongue feel sore. I will only be able to eat it in small quantities. But maybe that’s a good thing.

I will continue to look for other cheese powder alternatives.

Ha! I love your food quests. You won’t be able to run this one and the salt one simultaneously, though, or your tongue will be destroyed.

Last time you just tried the Kraft powder, and it wasn’t salty enough. Could you mix these two and have the perfect combination?

Dang, that must be some salty powder if it made your tongue sore!

I remember as a kid we used to buy salted sunflower seeds in the shell. We’d suck on the shell to get the salt off, then open & eat the seed. The seed was the secondary treat. I remember my tongue being so sore. But did that stop me. No! Once the middle of my tongue was raw, then I would switch to one side, then the other. I would usually make it thru the bag this way. I wonder if this is where my addiction began???

I have a similar story. I had the night shift driving myself and 5 others down to Lake Powell for spring break back in college. To stay awake I ate sunflower seeds and after 8 plus hours, my whole mouth was raw. Once we got to the lake I tried my first dip of Copenhagen (I don’t chew tobacco, just experimented). In less than 15 seconds my head was spinning so fast I had to lay down on the beach and I think I may have puked as well. That was stupid. I might as well had injected the nicotine straight into a vain. Ok, my story wasn’t so similar.

Um-m-m-m Crunchy Cheetos. I’d try “yellow” cheese powder. Eat a little bag of Crunchy Cheetos using the same 2 or 3 fingers and thumb. When the bag is finished, the fingers and thumb need a good licking. Um-m-m cheesy goodness!!! 🙂
