Welcome to Brad's online memory archives.

A Chocolatey Day

Yesterday we went to Hershey’s Chocolate World in Hershey, Pennsylvania.
It was chilly and rainy when we arrived.

We of course had to take the factory tour simulation ride. We all fit in one car. I tried to get a picture of us all.
This was at the beginning before the really scary part.

Tara and Tim did the “pack your own kisses in a box” experience. It was fun to watch.
I was of course thinking of Lucy in the candy factory the whole time.

The person made them do a dance at the end. I recorded it… Hehe….

After all the excitement, I was getting sleepy. I went to the food court, got a hot chocolate, put my feet up, and took a nap. It was glorious!
I love being able to read the internet on my phone.

It was our last evening together, so we just hung out. Tara and I made some designs with plastic thingies. I don’t know that this stuff is really called, but IKEA calls them Pyssla. Tara did the heart, I did Max and Darth Vader. We did the pink and orange circle together. I liked it. I should do more crafts.
You melt them together with an iron.

My family leaves for Nebraska this morning. This time they aren’t driving straight through. They will spend a night in a hotel on the way back. Pray for a safe journey!

Tara and Tim have dance skilz! Pastor Ratcliffe would be so proud. 🙂 (He was the music man at VBS.)

I’m trying to remember where I was recently and the smell of chocolate was overpowering. I didn’t mind it, but I remember thinking that if you didn’t like chocolate, being around that smell would bother you. So do you think the people who work at Hershey’s like the smell, or have become accustomed to it, or now hate it?

Your crafts are cute. Did you create Max on your own? (Because it’s pretty funny.)

Were these kisses boxed in the Chocolate Lab, by any chance? We went there for our Valentine visit (becoming an annual now) and made truffles from scratch…not the pig-snout-in-the-forest kind either. Yummy! Tara and Tim are naturals at this. I think once they are teens they should come back and apply for a summer job at the factory. Then maybe there will be discounts and other perks for relatives…and friends of relatives…ahem…just sayin’

…and I think it’s funny how on the same label of Pyssla appear the words “warning” and “Advertencia” (“advertisement” en espanol?) if one were a translation of the other. Hmmm…on second thought……all those sleazy ads on Antenna TV for malpractice attorneys should have a warning label. Good choice of terms after all, IKEA!

I love Tim’s ‘chicken’ dance….he still had a little ‘twist’ left in him making for an awesome ‘twistin’ chicken’! HA! And the hats are too cute! If you still have them, I think Harold should trade his for one of those. 😉

Another super fun day! Man, you all must be exhausted!

And safe travels to the Royuks & Pesters! I’ll be praying for no incidences … in the car & out of the car.

    * Love the dancing by the kids.
    * Perler beads are a huge hit in our house. The neighbor kids love to do them in our home – as evidenced by the beads I find in curious places for weeks afterwards.
    * Off to eat some chocolate.
