Distraction Day

Yesterday was the first day of meetings at school. My school friends knew the significance of the date and many of them wished me well. Thanks, school friends. My fellow ex-worker Debbie had called on Tuesday to ask if I wanted to do something together so we could distract ourselves from the fact that we weren’t there. What a great idea! A Distraction Day.

Debbie and I both really like gardening, so we went to Homestead Gardens garden center. It was wonderful. I think we looked at almost every single plant there. And as a bonus, it was a cool morning. Excellent! Neither one of us bought anything. Our gardens are mature now, so there isn’t much space. In order to fit a new plant in, an old plant must be removed. It takes a special plant to cause an upset like that.

After the garden center, we stopped at G&M Restaurant. I’ve been there for their crab cake sandwich before, but this time I got fried shrimp. They were delicious! Debbie got a fried flounder sandwich. She said they ate flounder all the time when she was a kid because it was so cheap.

It was a wonderful day. I was so glad Debbie called.

I saw many beautiful flowers and container gardens, but this is the only picture I took yesterday.

Hooray for Debbie and her great idea! I’m glad that you guys did such a positive thing together, and that your work friends are such thoughtful people.

I’m sad you got shrimp, though. Flounder sounds pretty good instead.

Glad you two did this; I heard Debbie was planning something special for the two of you. You know everything at youknowwhere still reminds me/us of both of you multiple times/day……..

[You know, one could say the same as above for staffing adjustments (“In order to fit a new plant in, an old plant must be removed. It takes a special plant to cause an upset like that.”) Yet more times than not, the old plant is only appreciated after it’s been uprooted/”discarded”……sigh……]

What wonderful plans have you for today?

Mmmm…..those shrimp look delicious! I call them real shrimp. They’re big & butterflied.

I’m so glad you & Debbie had a nice day! Believe me you, you both will be sorely missed!!

(Btw: Have you ever been to Homestead Gardens in the fall? I went there when Matt was at the Naval Academy & inside was decorated really nice with beautiful fall & fun Halloween stuff. I bought Boo-Oply there. Muahhhh!)
