Welcome to Brad's online memory archives.

Last Day

Yesterday was my last day before Maui. I was fairly well prepared, but I still was freaking out a little. I did some paperwork in the morning, then got it off in the mail:
There was actually a parking space available. There usually isn't.

I stopped by the church where I have directed handbells for the last ten years or so. I had to leave the bell mallets for them.
The trees are still up. It technically is still Christmas.

I scooped Max’s litterbox for the last time. He made it an extra special experience by interrupting me and peeing.
He scratched around in there FOREVER. Sheesh!

And I got all my stuff packed. Well, all the stuff I’m taking. It’s weird to have everything I’ll have fit in two suitcases and a carry-on. And I didn’t even go over the weight limit!
I'm glad they roll.

My trip today will take a total of 18 hours. Ouch! Here’s the obligatory plane shot:
Hopefully I'll be too tired to even think about this.

In case you want to follow along at home, here is my flight info:
American #1435 Baltimore to Dallas (departs 8:15am)
American #1717 Dallas to Portland (departs 12:35pm)
Alaska #809 Portland to Maui (departs 5:20pm)

UPDATE: My flight to Dallas was canceled or something… They didn’t say what. But the entire plane load if people had to be re-routed. I almost had to take a cab to Washington, but then the desk lady found a spot for me on some United flights. Whew! My new info:

United #753 to San Francisco (departs 8:55am)
United #194 to Maui (departs 2:11pm)

Uh-low-ha-oy……Uh-low-ha-oy…. (Picture the adorable native dancers in their grass skirts slowly undulating their arms in the background as we sing…) “And as our camera fades out, our hero embarks upon yet another adventure, flying off to the Pacific islands in his Sopwith Camel, prepared to fight the evil Axis enemy at every…”

    no – wait – that’s another hero…

“And as our camera fades out, in their minds his friends in Baltimore are waving a fond farewell to their brave hero, preparing to fight the Evil Enemy working for the souls of the children of the Pacific as he did so well for so many years with the children of Towson. Aloha, good friend – until we meet again!” (Music swells….and…out!)

Will think of you if I get to the Fractured Prune any time soon…sending prayers and hugs via cyberspace…

I’ll miss you Brad! I know you will be having a great time in Hawaii these next few months. I wonder if you will be so relaxed that you will awake at a normal time and not start your day at an insanely early hour like you did on the East Coast. Soon you will be walking barefoot on the beach and climbing coconut trees to get your lunch.

Seriously I miss our early morning talks. I’m sure you bring joy to someone else as they start their day. God go with you my friend. Debbie

Bye Brad! Happy traveling. And so now you only have to take 2 planes…..Yay! A good start already! I bet you find a buried pirate treasure in Maui.

    God’s blessings to you always!

Well, I just happened to be reading this as you take off. Praying for you today!

Your pictures made me just a little bit weepy. I’m excited for your new adventure, though! Tonight, you sleep on an island!
